‘ Cardiff City player returns ‘

Mon Jan 09, 2023 6:19 pm

Eli King has returned from League 2 Crewe and is now back with Cardiff City.

Mark Hudson says the loan really looks to have helped him and that he looks "really sharp" in training and will be challenging for the first team.

Eli King aged 20:

Bluebirds 4 appearances

On loan at League 2 Crewe 15 appearances

I'm waiting for the "he's like a new signing" quote from Hudson.

Code for, "be prepared for him to be in the team because we are getting rid of everything else"

Just a message for Mark Hudson, if Eli King couldnt hold down a starting place at Crewe, how come he can immediately challenge for a 1st team slot in the Championship?

hes played on average 64 mins a game so hardly not holding down a starting place .

Totally guessing here, but could it be age related?

Ahh, thank you Wez for confirming my point via your graphic.

So he has only played in 65% of Crewes games to date, and has played on average just about an hour in those games.

At this level, a Championship quality player shoukd be playing more games, and certainly be lasting the pace of a full game.

Based purely on this stat, this is not Championship quality.

When was the last time one of our players going out on loan to these low leagues actually came back and made it and became a regular in the Championship?

Sorry to but in, I remember the whole thing on Earnie, he returned and was still not up to it. I use to go to Ninian Park and every day, Sam Hammam would have Earnie after training back their in the weights etc etc and built him up for months, Sam believed in him and worked on him big time, a one off.

Our youngsters must dread coming back and seeing the confidence we have in them or to give them a chance :bluebird:
