Neil Warnock return speculation? I’ve spoken to them

Neil Warnock return speculation?

I’ve spoken to them behind the scenes and it is 100% not true, they have told me.

I know my job is to get the results regardless of any speculation of where we are. I spoke to the chairman yesterday and was told there were rumours. That’s part and parcel of football. My job is to concentrate on Leeds and focus on a big game against Wigan.

Did you ask them?

I’ve been in football a long time. Speculation is speculation, it will not deter my focus from what the job is. It was put to bed yesterday.

Mark Hudson has stated that Cardiff City's reported interest in hiring Neil Warnock as manager is "100 percent not true".

The former Bluebirds boss, who guided City to the Premier League in 2018, was linked with a sensational return to the Welsh capital with pressure mounting on Mark Hudson after a run of seven games without a win.

Warnock, 74, announced his retirement in April last year but this week gave an interview in the Portsmouth News stating that a short-term role could interest him.

However, when quizzed about Warnock potentially coming back, Hudson was quick to rule out the prospect after speaking with the board following the speculation.

Mark Hudson:

"I've spoken to them behind the scenes and it's 100 per cent not true," Hudson said. "I know my job is to get results regardless of speculation of any situation where we are.

"Spoke to the chairman yesterday (Wednesday) and told there were rumours. That's part and parcel of football, but 100 per cent it's not Neil Warnock in that respect. My job is to concentrate and then look forward to a big game against Wigan.

"I've been in football a long time. Speculation is speculation and it will not deter my focus from what the job is.

"That is something I will continue to do - and that was put to bed yesterday."

So if Dalman says it's untrue, you can guarantee he has spoken to NW. Dalman has even said he doesn't really know Hudson, great for a chairman of a business not to know much about his manager. Pfff.

Hudson is starting to look like a right clown. If I was him, I'd accept I was out of my depth and leave rather than go along with all the bullshit and spin.

At some point one of their mad gambles may pay off, they need to back him now and get a center-forward in on loan

Hudson might be ok for now but we all know things can change very quickly. Loose at home to Wigan and his job will be in great danger.

Hudson’s reposte to Dalman should have been
“Don’t piss down my neck and tell me it’s raining”

Ofcourse it's untrue.

The board speaking to Warnock would be them showing a bit of initiative and future planning - which we all know they're incapable of.

Instead, when Hudson gets the sack, we'll have 0 candidates ready and will probably employ his assistant.

You're right, mate. If he spoke to Dalman, he would have noticed the forked tongue...

Also, I note there is no actual quoting of Dalman; just a Hudson comment that he's "spoken to them behind the scenes" and "it's 100% not true"...

My info is Neil Warnock has been sounded out but not what the response was. Results and time will tell...

To be fair, I don't think most are 'against' Mark Hudson and would love to see him succeed; but our No.1 priority is the safeguarding of Cardiff City FC (at worst) as a Championsip club and regaining the momentum we had until OGS arrived and which was temporarily reignited when Neil Warnock arrived in similar circumstances

Maybe even an 'overseer' role might suffice; but we are now at the point where the hierarchy cannot gamble with inexperience

Our players are good enough IMHO and just need a helping hand (and a striker or two)

We'd all love to see Huds be successful mate and I'd like him to stay at the club if he was moved aside. But as you say, what we can't gamble with is the relegation threat and time will be quickly against us so experience is needed plus a couple of quality additions. I think (well, hope) that we'll be OK and I noted that NWs comments on his other interested club that it would be a short term fix while they lined up their next manager, which is precisely what we need. The old fox must have said it to rattle Dalman.

Only repeating what I was told Chris. Personally I don't want him near the place again but hey-ho.
