:bluebird: :bluebird: " MARK HUDSON TODAY UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS " :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thursday 5th January 2023

Manager Mark Hudson goes in to this FA CUP game at home to Leeds United without a victory for 2 months and an appalling scoring record.

Cardiff City Chairman Dalman has reassured Manager Mark Huddon his job is safe and they are not looking for someone else

Dalman you’ve got to laugh, the dreaded vote of confidence and it’s like Boris promising the UK people things

MARK HUDSON:

"We wont be keeping Sean Morrison, we have let him go.”

Any update on the embargo?

It’s a constant dialogue to try and resolve the situation. They keep saying they are feeling positive. But we are where we are with that.

Mark Hudson

Who is out and who’s not?

Kion will be his first day on the grass tomorrow, it took longer than we thought, with a slight hamstring strain. He is unlikely to be seen against Leeds.

Robbo is off ill and under the weather, unlikely you’ll see him. Gav has been ill, Cedric has been ill. Mahlon has had a scan on his hamstring and he could be four to six weeks out.

There’s a lot that’s been going around. They have pushed themselves to the limit. When your body is empty you’ll likely pick up some bugs. Robbo has been off since the game.

Big blow Robinson out?

He is. He didn’t train before the game, we weren’t sure he would make the game before it. The way he was and the way the pitch was, if we played him longer we might have lost him for longer.

I understand his frustration, he wants to make a difference but you can’t if you’re out for four to six weeks.

Mahlon…

Yeah, the high workload. Running up and down. He has not had a hamstring injury before so he isn’t aware of what it would feel like.

They scanned him yesterday.

Neil Warnock return speculation?

I’ve spoken to them behind the scenes and it is 100% not true, they have told me.

I know my job is to get the results regardless of any speculation of where we are. I spoke to the chairman yesterday and was told there were rumours. That’s part and parcel of football. My job is to concentrate on Leeds and focus on a big game against Wigan.

Did you ask them?

I’ve been in football a long time. Speculation is speculation, it will not deter my focus from what the job is. It was put to bed yesterday.

Leeds home this Sunday:

Yeah, 6,500 coming down. I watched the team last night. They like to play counter-press football. A manager that is extremely enthusiastic about the way they play. It’s something to look forward to.

When you play a Premier League team you will be an underdog, but we have focused on how we can get forward and pose a threat.

It’s a team that we’ve done well against historically and we look forward to it.

The terrible run you’re on?

"If we talk about Blackpool we had an apology for three decisions. If we win that game because of those, our momentum might be different. But we didn’t. It’s about us focusing on what we do. Getting more numbers in the box and simplifying what we do around the box."

Isaak back…

He has a total of 15-20 minutes. He looked sharp again today in training. He is showing that he is getting closer to fitness. He has been out for six and a half months. He is building up and that’s great. He is now fully fit and putting back-to-back sessions in. He is fighting to take his opportunity.

Best FA Cup memory?

It’s a huge cup. We take it seriously. It’s an opportunity for some who may not have played to show what they’ve got.

" Sean Morrison "

I want to put on record Sean will be leaving. I’ve had long conversations with Sean, he has been here for eight and a half years. Promotion. Won player of the season. A huge influence. He created some amazing environments for players in the dressing room. So welcoming to everyone around the club. He’s been a huge influence and I want to wish him all the very best going forward.

I think he can get back up to speed. It was a huge injury at a disappointing time in his career. I’ve told him he can get fitter and stronger.

FA Cup continued

I cannot disregard the game. It’s important for us as a club, coaching staff and players. Maybe we can rest one or two with illness. We’ve also got players who are desperate to play.

They will be playing players who haven’t had game time, but for us it’s an opportunity to showcase ourselves against a Premier League team.

Lack of goals Mark Hudson

"We went through it today. When they have done it well and when they’ve not done it so well. Where we can find spaces and where those spaces are. Disrupting opposition. It’s something we continually work on."

"The football up to the final third has been outstanding. We are scoring goals. That’s something we are aware of, creating an identity."

Good spirit in the team?

The pleasing bit is the spirit. The determination. Bodies on the line. We had a tough game against Coventry, not great with the ball but unbelievable resilience. That’s exactly what they should do.

Club legend Sean Morrison to leave Cardiff City after more than eight years as Bluebirds make statement

The 31-year-old played almost 300 games for the Bluebirds and enjoyed a promotion to the Premier League

Sean Morrison will leave Cardiff City after eight-and-a-half years

Sean Morrison will leave Cardiff City following the expiration of his return-to-play contract, the club have confirmed.

The former Bluebirds skipper signed for the club in 2014 and played 295, winning promotion to the Premier League back in 2018.

The centre-back, 31, sustained an ACL injury back in February 2022 and had undergo surgery to rectify the problem and his contract ran out in the summer, during his rehabilitation.

Morrison played three games for the under-21s over the last few months as he worked his way back to fitness, with Mark Hudson previously stating that conversations were to be had over the player's future.

However, it has been decided that Morrison, a bona fide fan favourite in this corner of the world, will move on to pastures new after eight-and-a-half years with the club and Hudson wanted to place on record his thanks.

"I want to put on record Sean will be leaving," Hudson said. "I’ve had long conversations with Sean, he has been here for eight and a half years. He captained the club for six of them, played 300 games, scored 33 goals, won promotion, won Player of the Season in 2017/18.

"He has been a huge influence on and off the pitch. He created some amazing environments in dressing rooms for players to come into. He has always been so welcoming to everyone around the club, fans, players, staff. He’s been a huge influence and I want to wish him all the very best going forward. He has got years to play.

"I think he can get back up to speed. It was a huge injury at a disappointing time in his career. I’ve told him he can get fitter and stronger and he will have many years playing the game.

"We had conversations and ultimately the decision has been made. We were open, honest and I wanted to involved him in all those conversations. That's why I'm here telling everyone he is highly regard and I wish him all the very best going forward."

I'm not convinced about this 'illness' in the camp. I reckon they are not risking our best players like Kipre and Robinson to make sure they play in the crucial game against Wigan next week.

WHOSE EMBARGO ? :

It appears that we are under two different embargoes that work differently . Is that the case ? How can they be lifted ? We know that we are under a FIFA 3 window transfer embargo .

We also know that we are on an ‘open’ EFL embargo (CCFC’s name appears on their embargo web site).

We know that the EFL embargo can be lifted IF we pay Nantes ‘IN FULL’ meaning ALL three payments . However the very important question is : “Can the FIFA embargo be lifted or is it cast in stone “? I am told that ….it can’t be lifted except if our present appeal to the Swiss Federal Court (SFC) succeeds . To succeed it means that the SFC must overturn both the FIFA ruling as well as the CAS court ruling …..

I believe that the chances of that succeeding are very low to none .

Naturally we fans are extremely concerned and the Club must explain the whole situation to us TRUTHFULLY !

Romeo has been one of the standout players in this Bluebirds team this season and has been a nailed-on starter at right back when fit enough to play.

However, it looks like City will have to cope without him for the next month or so owing an injury he sustained in the 0-0 draw away to Coventry City.

Mark Hudson:

"Mahlon has had a scan on his hamstring and it's come back that it could be four to six weeks. So that's disappointing, for him and for us," Hudson said.

"The high-level workload, working hard up and down. He has felt it on a recovery run up at Coventry. He has not had a hamstring injury before so he isn’t quite aware of what it would feel like. So it's a new one for him. We thought it would be better than it was, but they had to wait for the swelling and the bleeding to come down."

Mark McGuinness talks planned:

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore says losing Mark McGuinness would be a "blow" for the Owls and says talks will take place with Cardiff tomorrow.

The centre-back will return to south Wales after the FA Cup clash with Newcastle United. The defender has enjoyed a stellar stint in League One and his loss is a setback for Moore.

"First and foremost, we have the game to conclude tomorrow (Saturday)," he responded today.

"After the game, both clubs have agreed to have a chat. If he is to go back, it's a blow. But for me, my message is we should be full of joy in terms of what he brought to the football club.

"He has been absolutely tremendous, he does what it says on the tin and he ticks our boxes in terms of recruitment.

"He's improved as a player, without a doubt and taking to it like a duck to water in terms of how he's been received by the football club. Most importantly, his performances have been getting stronger and stronger.

"If he goes back, he goes back with our full blessing. We thank him for his time here and I personally thank him for our time working together.

"He can play (tomorrow). There's always been an agreement and we always thought we'd reached the end of it and that is in agreement (recall option). Yes, they may call him back or there may be a possibility of him staying. If they are to call him back (after) tomorrow, then we are happy in terms of his contribution.”

Mark Hudson confirmed on Thursday that Cardiff centre-back Oliver Denham aged 20, has suffered a slight setback in his return from injury.

Denham has been sidelined with growing pains in recent weeks and had been working his way back up to full fitness at Cardiff's Vale training base.

But his first-team comeback may take a little longer than expected after a setback this week.
