Way Forward

Sun Jan 01, 2023 7:29 pm

A couple of matches ago we were creating some good chances ( but unfortunately not taking them).
Hudson appeares to have stumbled upon playing Etete upfront with others playing off him. That should have been the line up today.
Is Etete thefinished product - obviously not.
But is playing him (a tall number 9) the best option we have - yes.
Hudson didnt even have Etete on the bench as an option with Davies. If SM was still in charge we would comfortavly survive,
At the end of the game today we had our tallest forward (Colwell) taking the corner. Our main threat being Kupre and Ng neither of whom are particularly tall or dangerous at corners.
Wehave gone from a couple of years ago being a team full of big players playing too direct, to not being direct at all. Its not rocket science! We need pace and physical threat upfront. For Gods sake play Etete with Davies and maybe Ojo as forwards / wide players with some pace and skill. Hudson thought playing 2 similar players Robinson and Harris upfront would provide a threat :banghead: B.t.w. Robinson was crap today so why the histrionics. He thinks that he is far better than he is.
Thank God for players like Kipre O Dowda and Wintle who are usually among our best players and they just roll up their sleeves and get with it.

Robinson wasn’t brilliant today but he was playing so deep any threat was nullified. He shouldn’t be dropping to midfield to get the ball. We should either be playing it to his feet or he needs to be wider taking players on.

All I am saying is that it is pretty bloody obvious that we lack height and physicality in the forward positions.

At least Etete has height and his physicality is improving. Play him Hudson.

At present we have almost no ‘threat’ upfront and at set pieces and corners. I evwn think despite his weaknesses Shaun Morrison would hwlp with lwadership and physicality
I am starting to worry about relegation with MH in charge (hope he proves me wrong) :bluebird:

I agree. I was just alluding to him being played totally wrong. Which is perhaps symptomatic of our situation

A striker was called for by most on this board before a ball was kicked this season ..and we need to give Robbo help .
