‘ LEEDS ARE COMING BIG TIME ‘

Fri Dec 30, 2022 2:36 pm

Leeds United bring more:

After selling out the original allocation of just under 5,000 tickets , further tickets are now available to season ticket holders and members for #LUFC's cup clash against Cardiff, bringing the total to up to 6,500 Leeds fans.

Surely got to be a 25,000 crowd at the CCS.

Pity we can't charge the scummers £40 each after what they used to charge us in the Championship.

I fear it will be an embarrassing scoreline.

I’ll be honest and say that I’m not going to bother as I’ll watch on tv. Ps. I’m a ST holder and have been for 20+ years.

Not a serious issue with our fans .more like a serious issue with being bored shitless with no goals

For them, you mean...? :?

They don't have a good track records v us Bluebirds; but I guess they'll never take us for granted again...! :laughing6:

Fair do's to the big Leeds support, but you must remember most of them don't have to travel far (only 10 miles or so by train to Newpot)

As always, I'll be there 'cos I'm a loyal Bluebird and not for the opposition! :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Paul Corkery:

Leeds have requested every ticket available to them for this game after selling initial allocation,so 6500 Leeds fans will make the trip..great support from them fair play. Let's fill the home stands now ,tickets are just £20 adults from ticket office.

If we can’t sell out for this game we may as well all pack it in this is a fantastic draw to have going into the new year Leeds are bringing huge support I’m not surprised by that and I think it’s great they are bringing a big following if we where playing somebody like Shrewsbury we would only get about three thousand I’m baffled why we are not selling this game Leeds will always be a big draw in my eyes and over the years we have a big rivalry with them

“Pack it in”?

:laughing6:

Well I’ll be there but for me it’s simple why we won’t sell out for this game.

I think OriginalGrangeEndBlue was mocking your (quote) "if we can't sell out for this game, we may as well pack it in." comment and not the sentiment behind your general comment that this game should attract a big crowd, which it ordinarily should...

However, times have changed at the CCS and supporters are starting to pick and choose their games more than they have for some years...

There are a multitude of reasons for this and each individual will have their own take on it

Apathy and negativity will be amongst them but equally there will be other genuine elements and we should remember this is not a season ticket event, so will mean a financial outlay plus other associated costs (maybe strikes?) for anyone attending and I won't be knocking them for not going

Personally, I will be there, as I believe we will put up a fight against Premier League opposition and I will be right behind my team, just as I was at the last (and most infamous) FA Cup game we played against them

I don't expect it to be the same but I do expect it to be a good occasion with a good atmosphere for once; made better by the Peacocks horrid but creditable following

I could understand it if we where playing a division one team or a division two team but for ffs we playing Leeds United if we had drawn Leeds United away if everybody would want to go to Leeds the kick off time is decent 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon me and my mates are coming up from port talbot like we always do week in week out really looking forward to it can’t understand why our support won’t turn out in there thousands

Sven has put it a lot better than I could and he’s absolutely right.

Not everybody is like you. We have a small hardcore of fans obviously but we also have more ‘floating’ fans who for a multitude of reasons probably won’t bother.

For a perfect example one guy has posted that he can’t attend because he doesn’t get paid until the 13th. Multiply this by thousands of other reasons and you have your answer to why it probably won’t sell out.

I really do get your point but we are in strange times on and off the field and people are not as committed under current conditions coupled with the economic turndown

A certain element apart, our away support are more loyal than much of our home support; and a lot more vocal, as the Coventry game showed

Successive city managers have treated the League cup and FA cup with contempt. How many lower league clubs have we lost to over the years because they think we have a good enough squad to rotate? Off the top of my head I'm thinking Macclesfield, Northampton and Gillingham, all beat us. I got fed up with being conned into buying a ticket for these games, but I wont go to a cup game again. And before anyone accuses me of not being a real supporter, I've been a season ticket holder at CCS since it opened, and have watched city since the 60's. I love the club but they don't get any more of my money under false pretences.
