Mark Hudson: “ Update Callum Robinson & Kion Etete “

Fri Dec 30, 2022 10:22 am

Cardiff were without strikers Callum Robinson and Kion Etete for the trip to Coventry. However, Hudson provided a positive prognosis on both players, who were carrying knocks into the game.

Mark Hudson:

"Robbo travelled and just missed out.," he said of Robinson. "We couldn't risk him really and it would have been a risk. He nearly made it through, but not quite. So that's not bad.

"Kion has had a spike in his intensity in game-time. He was fatigued and I don't want to put players at risk, we need him. We have a squad that is capable of coming to a place like this and getting a clean sheet.”

"I'm looking to travel with a fully-fit squad come Blackburn."

The next time Hudson takes charge of the Bluebirds, against Rovers on New Year's Day, the transfer window will have opened. As things stand, of course, City are under and embargo.

Robbo injured. Fair enough. Etete - spike in playing time. No. Pathetic. He’s barely played. Not good enough at all Mr Hudson.

He also took a knock v QPR, so it's not unreasonable

Yes it is Sven. But as always you like to provoke an argument. At no pint does Hudson says he had a knock. Just a spike in playing time. He’s a fit young man of 21. He should be able to handle a few games. What about the number of games Kipre, Ng, Wintle etc have to play?

I thought I saw the other day post match Hudson said Etete had a knock or was sore?

Yes you saw right, Hudson did say that Etete had a knock in the QPR game.

Let's get something straight here, I 'like' to provoke nothing; but you take my comment(s) as you so choose!

What I do is correct clear errors in comment; of which you are guilty of on this thread for a number of reasons (as others have since pointed out) and where you have slated a Bluebird player without real foundation

Kion Etete was seen (by those who were there) to be struggling late in the QPR game, it was commented on afterwards (by the manager and others) and it was he rather than Robinson who was the initial 'doubt' for Coventry

I'm not sure what it is with you? You often post decent stuff but then out comes stuff like this or (whilst you are here) your desperate need to create the 'Daily Brezza' thread on a topic that is either pointless or has been covered elsewhere

Just consider what you post and its effect please... :ayatollah:

This was not a post to criticise a player as I am a city fan through and through and have supported the club since 1966, merely frustration for the constant unavailability of players when we are struggling and in a relegation fight. However, I do not wish to provoke an argument with you Sven or any other city fan. For this reason I shall keep my thoughts to myself and no longer post on this forum but happily read what others have to say as I throughly enjoy reading fellow City fans thoughts and opinions.

If a player isn’t fit to play they aren’t fit to play. We don’t know what goes on behind closed doors we don’t know what the physios and medical staff are telling the coaches.
Firstly and most importantly we have a duty to look after a players welfare.
Beyond that if we play someone unfit we risk losing them for longer when it’s vital we have all players as fit as possible.

They could be targeted by opposition on tbr pitch.
Operating at a lower capacity could mean they can’t do something that a lesser player but one that is fit COULD do.

Getting injured and being pulled in the game is likely to upset the game plan and upset team cohesion while reducing options for tactical changes.

My main worry was Robinson as nothing had been said about him. But you can understand radio silence so as not to tip off Coventry. It has been suggested before the game that Etete wasn’t quite right.

Hmmmm, it seems departing is better than apologising for making it up?

No one wants you to stop posting. Just consider what you are putting out as 'fact' when it isn't

Players are 'unavailable' for lots of reasons and (strange as this might appear) we don't have/need to have the full details of each case

Personally, I appreciate that players put themselves on the line for our club (therefor us as supporters) and I've not seen a Bluebird who hasn't thrown himself at a defensive challenge this season. In fact I have been quite impressed at the 'togetherness' on the field

As a long-standing supporter, you will have surely seen a lot worse than this current squad...? :? :ayatollah:

I mean you were the one trying to cause an argument.

They monitor the players constantly using scientific methods. He has played a lot more lately at a higher level than used to so it might have put him in what they term the ‘red zone’ which would significantly increase chances of injury. Hence resting to stop that fatigue becoming an injury like a groin strain or hamstring injury which could result in weeks out.

Why would Hudson lie?

Some people seem to think that players can just play through injuries because they are young. Or automatically be fit enough to play at the intensity of the championship - after long periods out as well. It is frustrating but, like you say, there's a lot of sports science behind players performances and fitness these days.

This naive poster has mentioned this topic a few times before.

He probably thinks it should be like ‘the old days’ - give them an injection before the game and tell them to man up and get on with ffs.
