My Christmas experience.
Daughter ill, very very high temp. Phoned 111, on hold for two calls.... 3hrs for each before the call just dropped, called surgery closed. Tried again next day, still couldn't get through to 111, surgery not answering. A&E wait... 12hrs. Don't go to A&E they say, well if you can't get advice anywhere else what can you do.
Shocking, basically if you're ill you're on your own! Hope Drakeford had a lovely holiday in Qatar.

…and their excuse is that the record amount of funding they’ve had isn’t enough. Gross mismanagement at its very very best. So sorry to hear this mate and I hope your daughter is ok.

Sad to hear this, hope your daughter is OK.
Drakeford will insist it's not his fault though.

Could try and re allocate the salaries of silly ideas like 40k pa for an inclusive officer in each health board to name one job that does not have a meaningful role in nhs..
Sorry to hear about little one children with high temp should be a priority no matter what....

Just want a five minute conversation with someone to give instructions or peace of mind...

Sorry to hear about your daughter, but surprised they told you not to go to A&E if it was on boxing day,
I had my cataract seen to on the Friday but on Boxing Day my eye was infected so I phoned the eye clinic who said that the eye doctor was out on call and for me to go direct to A&E I arrived at 8-30 and was seen at 10-00, unfortunately Theon call doctor was still out but the nurse seen to me while they were contacting the doctor who arrived at 11-00 and I was ready to go home at 11-45, and I have to admit that the treatment from the nurses and the doctor was excellent.
There were not that many in the A&E that is why I was surprised and 111 must have been wrong in telling you there is a 12 hour delay.
I hope your daughter was seen too in the end, but agree with you entirely that that is not something that should be happening at all.

Doctors, nurses and support staff in the NHS are generally terrific at their jobs and a credit to their profession
However, the NHS management and the Welsh government are absolutely shambolic
20 years of mismanagement by Welsh Labour are the only reason why the NHS in Wales is in such a mess
But as we all know Drakeford and his overpaid, under qualified cronies will blame everyone but themselves for the mess

I’m glad you added ‘generally’ as this hadn’t been the case in my last few visits to hospital with both parents and grandchild on 3 separate occasions.

Some will make mistakes and not offer a good service but that is usually down to being overworked and/or short staffed. I can only speak from experience and I have nothing but praise and admiration for the bulk of NHS staff

Sadly the NHS will always be under enormous pressure.an ageing population an ever increasing population and huge amount of staff vacancies .

Any news on the £120 million that’s ‘gone missing’ in the Betsy?
Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:51 pm
Most hospitals have a children's A@E.
I would have gone straight to the hospital. Not taking no for an answer.

6 nurses sitting in a circle st the front desk while I was visiting my dying dad amd when I asked for assistance on a few occasions I was spoken to in an extremely rude manner. Unforgivable and nothing to do with underfunding or being under staffed - six of them! Exactly the same happened when my mother was in the same position - you’ll have to wait as we’re all on break was the reply I had. I said I’d complain and one of them soon jumped up. Unfortunately I’ve said this story to a few mates who have had similar experiences. I have no confidence in the management or the staff, from top to bottom in the nhs. Everyone has sn opinion though mate but as you can imagine, my experiences were at s particularly difficult time for me personally.

And still the sheep will vote for him, but a strange thing i never thought of before was said to me by a retired English man in Urology, Bronglais which was he and others who have moved here will always vote for him as they get everything free.

This is why I get so wound up by people being highly critical of the conservatives while giving labour a free pass.
They are both crap!
The default response is “oh England don’t give us enough money”
We get plenty of money. Labour choose how to spend it. They have the choice to spend the money wisely. If they really think we aren’t getting enough campaign for more.

If you look at what WG have done since its inception it's all been populistic policies.... smoking ban free prescriptions ect ect all aimed at keeping labour in power.. hence you get the reaction you highlighted covid will see them in again as hes hoodwinked people into believing he had it sorted... anything bad is confined to the waste bin as people dont realise what they've done... all this thing about funding at end day it's their responsibility on how it is spent and nobody can say they do it well.

You're preaching to the converted here Allen.

It's very much like uk parties come general election time they all promises the earth but give you a single country instead! The problem is they've been in power so long they are turning into a dictatorship only got to see how they ignore the senedd and spend money without scrutiny or simply ignore people when they lose a consultation about something like smacking...
