Mark Hudson: “ Rubin Colwill “

Hudson pleased with Colwill output

Mark Hudson was delighted with Rubin Colwill's display against QPR after handing him his first start in almost four months

Colwill looked bright and also stuck to his defensive task well and it will represent a big box ticked so far as the Bluebirds' coaching staff are concerned.

Speaking about the 20-year-old's performance, Hudson said: "I thought he dealt with it well and looked good. It was about getting him in the right place physically so we don't put him at risk.

"Played him last week and he showed flashes of what he's about. He played 75 last week and came off today, which is good. We will have to see how he recovers [on Tuesday]. We have a big turnaround and two big games coming up.

"He has got vision, his work rate was excellent, his work off the ball, positionally good, strong. We had to be patient, so did he, I thought he did really well."

If we are to see the best of Colwill, he needs to be played in a central role. I'd like to see him play behind Robinson or even rotate him with Robinson with Etete up top. We need to be careful we don't run Robinson into the ground.

Colwill needs to play as a CAM as I feel that would be his best position and we would get the best out of him, no way is he a wide player.
Get him in a position where he can hurt the opposition and watch him and City flourish. :ayatollah:

Maybe he is a No10. But reading everything Hudson has said over the weeks it would seem he’s physically not ready for the amount of work that position demands. Playing him wide is less demanding physically. It’ll be interesting to see where he is played when they deem him fully fit. Or his growth has eventually settled down.

Colwill needs to be given a set of games and I agree with your point on Robinson .

Thought he had a decent 1st half on the left last night. Good combination with him, o'dowda and ralls
