Our Front Line

Mon Dec 26, 2022 9:12 pm

It’s no wonder we are the lowest scorers in the league. Our front line tonight was as poor as I can ever remember. Robinson aside who in all fairness gives 100% but is having to drop so deep isn’t getting in the right position. Colwill never a winger in a million years, he’s a No10 end of. Etete some say he’s work in progress well time is one thing we haven’t got we need a striker an experienced one. Time or not I have my doubts he looks more like Bamby on ice. Phillagene just not strong enough and no fight.

One other thing we lack is pace out wide and whilst Niels is a car crash at full back maybe it’s time to give him a try on the wing. He’s been impressive when going forward.

Remember Chopra, bothroyd, mccormack
Earnie, Blake
Stant , Dale etc

Hate to say it but Dave Jones style of football was far superior to this tripe on display

It's late now but I'm watching a re run of the 2010 Championship Play-off Semi-Final (2nd Leg) versus a talented Leicester City side at the CCS

I was there on the night and what a game! I certainly wish we had that bunch playing for us now!

I know many 'knock' Dave Jones for some of his personal style/antics, but I've never been one and I yearn for a manager of his ilk, who could get a tune out of a bunch of talented mis-fits. I'm not sure we've ever had as entertaining a side as that in my supporting lifetime?

Marshall in goal, Mark Kennedy, Hudson, McNaughton, Bothroyd, Chopra and Whittingham just to name a few!

Surreal days I'd love to have back... :notworthy: :ayatollah:

Who advised Tan to sack him ? As you say a few quite notable folk didn't like his attitude but attitude is what we need right now as we are all having a shit journey home.

Colwill is not a wide player, no pace, he needs to be in the middle
Philogene( spelt that wrong) is not a wide player..
Hudson needs to sort it out,../ pick players in their best position../

I honestly think it's the midfielders creating absolutely nothing.
Are Ralls and wintle creating any chances?
Both too deep in my opinion

In fairness, I agree with you about Colwill, he should be behind the 2 strikers as a CAM.
Philogene hasn't long come back from injury and is finding his feet again, I think he is a winger as he can produce a moment of magic just like he did before he got injured. It’s all about opinions though

Wintle put the ball on two players heads yesterday with excellent crosses The players just wasted the chances who were on the receiving end

It makes absolutely no difference who our front line is, as it's so slow by design. Everything is so deliberate, over coached and defensive.

The over-elaborate way we get the ball to the two fullbacks is full of risk and still yet to reward us. Clever triangles with Wintle or Ralls sprinting back to take the ball off Kipre to spray a flat pass to either full-back who traps the ball and sees nothing in front of them as the CMs are flat, the winger has 2 markers (cos they have never seen this move in chapter one of the new coaches manual) so the AMC has to come deep leaving the rookie 9 isolated.

I see Kipre traveled with the ball last night but neither Ralls or Wintle sat in.
The fullbacks are more attackers by nature than defenders but its a flat back four so they are defensive
Wintle by nature is a DCM and Ralls injuries have mounted up so he is not a box-to-box lad anymore, so its 6 defenders.
We can't even smack it long, accept we are not winning the first ball but the second ball is ours as Wintle and Ralls are always outnumbered and if we think the likes of Philogene and Rubin are winning the second ball then we are in deep trouble.

I am just a guy who likes a beer, watched and played football (I was crap) for 45 years so has some idea about the game but know I am not a professional, but i can see that Hudson hasn't a fcuking clue.

This is the problem and we all see it except Hudson? but there again a lot managers dont see the blindingly obvious... poor finishing is more the problem as we consistently create chances like yesterday take them we would be top half easily ... put players in their best positions could and should sort this problem out as team more balanced.

Colwill is wasted out wide as we have very few creative players and then we haven’t got a true goal scorer …Hudson isn’t seeing what we are
