Saturday 24th December 2022

Mark Hudson with only 2 wins from his last 10 games, needs a win at home to QPR on Boxing Day to keep the fans from calling for his head.
Cardiff are 20th in the Championship and their has been NO improvement at all under Hudson's reign as manager and with only 2pts from a relegation spot, Hudson needs this win.

QPR HAVE ONLY WON, 1 OF THEIR LAST 7 CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES :thumbright:

Mark Hudson:

“The current squad is good enough and big enough and has plenty of quality and will be like having two new signings in January with Isaak Davies returning and Ebou Adams.”

"He is back up and around and has been back in the training ground and he will be pushing to be back around January, I think, and he will be like a new signing."

“We will continue to monitor Sean Morrison.”

Mark Hudson on Bagan: ‘I really like Joel. He needs to push harder. He needs to demand more from himself.“

MARK HUDSON:

"We’ll be looking to expand on the first 45 minutes that we had against Blackpool. We want to build upon that performance , and make it last for a longer period where we play that way."

MARK HUDSON:

“We are in the middle of discussions with Sean Morrison.”

“We have decided to let Ollie Tanner go out on loan for the rest of the season.”

Mark Hudson continued to toe the party line when it comes to the club's hopes of overturning the transfer embargo under which Cardiff have been placed.

With the straightest of bats, when asked about the embargo on Friday morning, Hudson replied: "There's lots going on behind the scenes. We are in the process, it's with the lawyers and the chairman, they are fighting away to try and get the embargo lifted.

"If we have a window, we do, if we don't, we don't. We've got the players we've got and I trust them. They know us as a coaching group and it's something we are looking to develop.

"You look at the likes of Kion [Etete], who has developed since he has come in and taken his opportunity. We have good players in the building."

MARK HUDSON:

CARDIFF CITY FORWARD TO GO OUT ON LOAN TILL END OF SEASON:

Ollie Tanner yet to make the first team and in and out of the U21’S is being loaned out till the end of the season.

Tanner will be 21 years old when he returns to the Bluebirds.

Signed from FC Lewis from the 8th league, arrived with much excitement through the media, but has not made the first team yet.

MARK HUDSON:

But manager Mark Hudson believes the next step in his development is for him to go on loan for the back half of the season and get some first-team minutes into his legs.

"When we brought Ollie in we had a long-term plan for him. It's not just six months or a year, it's longer than that," Hudson said.

"We knew he had been out of regular first-team football for a long time, which is the continual day-to-day. We have got him to be able to train and play; so train, then play 90 minutes, train, then play 90.

“We need to get Ollie match fit and hopefully next season we can put him in the first team squad.

"The early part of the season, it was 60 minutes and then he couldn't train. We were starting to build him up, body-wise. He had an impact in the Aston Villa game, it was a great goal, he has got quality, no doubt.

"There will possibly be a loan for him with a view to him then coming back with even more experience at a better level.

"There will be people wanting him for sure, because he has shown he has got that cutting edge. I'm not going to talk about at what level or football clubs, but it will have to be the right club for him, because I'm not just going to send him anywhere."

Asked if any other young players might be heading out on loan next month, Hudson added: "We have got a plan for players. Some players will go, because they need experience, to get the rhythm. We have expressed to each individual, it's nothing to hide."

MARK HUDSON: “ SEAN MORRISON “

Mark Hudson has confirmed the club are still in talks with former captain Sean Morrison over a potential deal to keep him at the club.

The centre-back, 31, is currently on a return-to-play contract as he continues his rehabilitation following knee surgery after he sustained an ACL rupture at Barnsley earlier this year.

He has played several times for the under-21s, even sporting the captain's armband on Wednesday against Sunderland, prompting many to wonder whether we might see him in action in the Championship for Cardiff over the next few months.

Asked about the prospect of keeping Morrison at the club, Hudson said: "We are in discussions with Sean at the moment. He is coming back from injury and has a return-to-play contract.

"It's whether we are able to offer him something or not. I speak to Sean regularly. We are all the same page with that."

The Bluebirds have confirmed the three-window embargo is currently in place following CAS' decision regarding the transfer of Emiliano Sala from Nantes>

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=204226

Cardiff City have been placed under a transfer embargo in a significant blow which means they now cannot sign players in the January window.

Cardiff's hierarchy have met manager Mark Hudson to discuss the matter and he is fully aware of the situation.

Re: MARK HUDSON:

Fri Dec 23, 2022 8:43 am

Mehmet Dalman says the Club are not in a position to pay Nantes FC for Emiliano Sala as it’s now risen to over £20million with court costs, so they will go down another route of suing as the club has not got the money.

The Transfer embargo will stay for January, but Dalman will try his best to lift the future two embargo’s.

But Dalman and Mark Hudson feel the squad is still good and full of quality and big enough for a play -off push and don’t need the extra signings in January.

Mehmet Dalman:

“I don’t really know Mark Hudson or much about him, but he has a good squad to work with.”

Mark Hudson:

“The current squad is good enough and big enough and has plenty of quality and will be like having two new signings in January with Isaak Davies returning and Ebou Adams.”

“We will continue to monitor Sean Morrison.”

Cardiff are taking a bit of a kicking on social media over the transfer embargo, but there are also some supporters who believe they are doing the right thing in fighting this highly complex matter and who are firmly backing them over their stance.

The Hierarchy feel that even without extra January signings, the squad is more than good enough to secure a comfortable mid-table finish or even play-offs.

Boss Mark Hudson can pick a first XI as follows:

Ryan Allsop; Mahlon Romeo, Perry Ng, Cedric Kipre, Calllum O'Dowda; Ryan Wintle, Joe Ralls; Callum Robinson, Rubin Colwill, Jadon Philogene, Kion Etete.

That would still leave back up from the likes of Sheji Ojo, Mark Harris, Romaine Sawyers, Isaak Davies, Andy Rhiomhota, Niels Nkounkou, Gavin Whyte, Curtis Nelson, Jack Simpson and Joel Bagan, among others

Re: MARK HUDSON:

MARK HUDSON:

Joel Bagan must "demand more from himself" if he is to break into Cardiff City's side in the problem position of left-back, Mark Hudson has stated.

Bagan has endured a rollercoaster time of it during his rise to the first team with the Bluebirds, having a number of injury setbacks and falling on the wrong side of selection calls, particularly this season.

"I really like Joel. He needs to push harder. He needs to want to take his opportunity," Hudson said of the left-back.

"People can say, 'Well he has not had his opportunity.' But it's every day. I've seen players take their opportunity in training and showcase it day in, day out. He needs to demand more from himself. We are trying to get that from him but it needs to come more from within.

"There are opportunities for everyone to come and showcase what they've got. You've seen selection, everyone has pretty much had an opportunity to take it, not just on the pitch, but down there on the training ground as well."

It's the latest challenge facing Bagan, who has had the backing of every manager since Neil Warnock until this current crossroads at which he finds himself.

The painstaking return of Cardiff City's Rubin Colwill, the 'things people don't see' and how he lost trust in his body

The playmaker finally started a game for the under-21s as he looks to relaunch his season as the second half of the campaign gets underway

By Glen Williams

Friday 23rd December 2022

This season was meant to be the one in which Rubin Colwill launched himself as a force to be reckoned with at Championship level.

At 20 years of age, we have seen flashes of brilliance which has seen fans slide forwards on to the edge of their seat during his fledgling Cardiff career.

The burgeoning Bluebirds talent was set to play a big part in this campaign, with no other player possessing the unique qualities he does, given the alchemy of his imposing frame and at times balletic feet. Indeed, against Sunderland this week for the under-21s, his free-kick to hand City the lead was sublime.

But it's been months of frustration for the Wales international, and the Bluebirds supporters who have been desperate to see him tear it up. Fans are demanding more game time for the City playmaker, but it's not quite as simple as that according to manager Mark Hudson.

He has started just one senior Cardiff game this season, against Preston back in August, as we reach the midway point. He has missed a lot of football, but he has also missed a lot of training, too, leaving him with a fitness deficit to make up.

MARK HUDSON:

"For Rubin, he has had 47 percent of the sessions available this season," Mark Hudson said on Friday morning. "That's something that people don't see. If we put him out there to start, we are putting him at risk.

"You're not going to see the best Rubin. We detail it to him, we don't hide it. The same with Isaak as well. It's about making sure we aren't putting them at risk and losing them long term.

"Rubin has played 76 minutes, scored a great free-kick, had some great flashes and moments in the game and that's exactly what we wanted and why we put him in the game.

"He has not had a start for such a long time. If I had started him against Blackpool, would he have been ready? Maybe not, because the tempo would have been higher. We don't want to dip someone in and not let them be able to perform. We want them to be at the highest level."

Given the nature of his injuries, brought on by his rapid growth over the last few months, it's been difficult for the youngster to grapple with.

In fact, it's led to Colwill losing trust in his body and Hudson and the medical staff have had to build that back up again to get him to a place they need him to be. And make no mistake, they need him in the second half of the season, as they look to push up and away from the relegation places.

"I can speak honestly, me and Rubin speak a lot. We have gone through his full season. He has done 47 percent of the sessions available," Hudson reiterated.

"He broke down in pre-season, because of his body growth. He then came back from that hamstring injury which he re-injured. Then we were going towards his call-up, late September, he came back from that and got injured on the back end of that.

"He missed a month and then we went through October into November. Then there was disruption and he pulled a muscle in his hip. There is so much growth in Rubin. If we had thrown him in at any point he would have been out much longer.

"I really enjoy watching Rubin play, but he has had a lack of trust in his own body. I'm not putting words in his mouth, it's something we speak about.

"He got back on the pitch before the World Cup, which is amazing, touching the ground in a World Cup game which is amazing for him and the club. Then he has been fit and available since then and this (U21s game) is the first game he has managed to start for a long time.

"It shows you, we could rush him back and throw him in, but he wouldn't have been ready or showed the best Rubin. It's our job to get him firing on all cylinders. Then, well, what a player we've got."

Cardiff play QPR at 5.15pm on Boxing Day and Colwill will no doubt be champing at the bit to help the Bluebirds start the second half of the season in winning fashion.

Re: BREAKING MARK HUDSON:

Ebou Adams return date revealed:

MARK HUDSON:

Gambia international Ebou Adams is finally set to get his Cardiff career up and running next month after a successful procedure on his knee.

The central midfielder, 26, needed a "clearing-up" operation on the front of his knee, a setback which was not needed after he missed the first few months of the season following an injury which saw his pectoral muscle rip off the bone, and was set to go under the knife last week.

Fortunately, the operation went swimmingly and he is set to be in contention, finally, for his first competitive Bluebirds appearance in January.

"Ebs (Adams) has ripped his pectoral off the bone in the first two minutes of the game, had a flare-up, a setback, he hasn't featured. It can take its toll, mentally," Hudson said.

"[The operation] went well, it went really well. They didn't have to go right into the knee, it was just something at the front and they've cleared it up.

"He is back up and around and has been back in the training ground and he will be pushing to be back around January, I think, and he will be like a new signing."

So of course City wanted to strengthen in January, now they are virtually set to miss out:

Absolutely Gutted:

Lennon Peake was high on Cardiff City’s list of players they wanted in January.

Media Wales Reporter Tom Coleman:

Saturday 24th December 2022

Peake was once touted as one of the most talented young players at the Hammers, but has struggled with injury in recent years.

Cardiff City Forum revealed last month that the 20-year-old had been on trial with the Bluebirds, and it's understood he made a positive impression during his short stint, netting in an under-21s clash with Charlton Athletic. Peake also spent time training with the first team, where again he caught the eye, and sources in the English capital claim City were open to making his stay official this January.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=231190

The terms of that potential move are unclear, with Peake still contracted to the Premier League side. But in any case, Cardiff now look set to miss out, with the player's representatives understood to already be looking elsewhere.

Peake was once touted as one of the most talented young players at the Hammers, but has struggled with injury in recent years, missing two full season before seemingly making a comeback at the start of this season. However, he has struggled for minutes in West Ham's academy set-up and appears to be seeking more regular action elsewhere.
