Isaak Davies and Sean Morrison also continued to work their way back from respective injuries by taking their place in a strong under-21s line-up.
The pair were due to play some part in the recent postponed Premier League Cup clash with Wolves, but were given a solid run out against the Black Cats at Leckwith on Wednesday.
Morrison played the full 90 minutes, while Davies played 63 minutes before being replaced.
Speaking on the pair's situation recently, Hudson added: "They need minutes and it’s of huge importance to them. They need to get their minutes, the game situation is needed.
"It’s that contact, that unconscious bit of the game, we need to get minutes into their legs."
