ETETE

Not the finished product but what a HUGE difference he made.
At least Hudson MANAGED today. He addressed the bleeding obvious ie Robinson is not a sole striker ans cannot hold the ball up.
Add to that he took off Nkoukou wgo is poor at defending (but good going forward).

Well done Etete - (and Hudson evwntually)…aomething to build on BLUEBIRDS :bluebird: :bluebird:

(Now come on France) :thumbup: :thumbup:

Poor with colwill though what was point 86th minute bringing him on ? Maybe brought on earlier he could have created more chances than what we did as we attacked far more than 1st half when other subs came on.

Maybe / perhaps BUT I think today is the time to praise Hudson (to some extent). The subs transformed the game. And to :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: recognize the difference Etete made:
Some physical presence upfront:
was able to offer some heading threat;
flicking balls on;
give some presence at our free kicks; and corners;
assist in clearing their corners; and
hold the ball up a bit.
As I say, NOT the finished product but a far better option than what we have used to date.
Rectifying the problem of having one smaller striker on his own made a huge difference!! Add to that getting Nkoukou off as he is not a left back. Finally, credit also to Harris who did well and worked hard.
I am sure Colwell has a bigger part to play but at 2-1 down at Stoke, Hudsonh made the right (obvious) changes, and showed “maybe” he can be a manager

Robinson is good enough that he can play as a pair or wide. He’s not moaned about anything and keeps plugging away. Etete is starting to show what Morison obviously saw in him and is doing so at the right time. He has been excellent in the last 2 games

Whyte faded second half and that sub should have been made 15 minutes earlier.

Happy for etete though, he really hasn't looked the part but hasn't had much of a chance either. Now I hope he gets given some more game time.

Etete did well and like you, I’m pleased for him. Reminds me of a young Leo fortune West yesterday in some ways. Really awkward customer to be up against.

Yep, I do think he’s come on massively since he signed for us.

I really didn’t think he was going to be strong enough be he’s definitely improved on that so have to give the guy, and coaches, a lot of credit.

He’s still going to have good and bad games but at 20 years old he’s certainly got time on his side as big strikers tend to develop later. Just look at Keiffer Moore’s career for confirmation of that.

Nkoukou is the worst defender we have had at the club for a long time - that is quite an achievement. His positional play is awful. I guess just goes to show - to be an effective pro - you need talent and game intelligence. Nkoukou is lack in the latter, which explains why he is good going forward - but that's it.

Read a post on the Stoke forum from somebody sitting by the dugout who said that Dean Whitehead was quite forceful in persuading Hudson to make the three substitutions that changed the course of the game.

Interesting if true,

He's being told to man mark. Which is an issue. But then the center backs are zonal. So it's all a bit backwards.
Our defence is all over the shop due to poor management.

Personally I don't see us having an overall solid wingback. Collins is aiming to be back training end of next month or early Feb (last time I spoke too him which was 6 weeks ago).

Until he's back I'd look at playing nkoukou as a winger who can drop back when needed. Possibly play an U21 left back to help as cover and just let him know to sit back and move with kipre or ng whoever the cb closest is at the time.
