Thursday 8th December 2022

Mark Hudson will be hoping to get the Bluebirds back to winning ways after two defeats just before the World Cup and needs wins asap to get the Bluebirds away from the relegation battle.

Mark Hudson:

“We have got a good squad. We brought 17 new players in four months ago. We have still got a lot of gelling to do. That’s what I believe in, there is no rush for new players.”

MARK HUDSON:

Good for Rubin to play at WC?

It’s an amazing thing. We spoke to him and messaged him. We told him how proud we were of him and I’m sure his family feels the same.

To have someone who has appeared in a World Cup is excellent. Now he is back with us and available for the weekend.

Mark Hudson

“Ebou Adams has something in his knee that needs tidying up. Ollie Denham back on the grass on Monday.”

Any news on injuries coming back?

Isaak Davies has completed his first 45 minutes, which is excellent news. He has still got some minutes this weekend to pick up, which will hopefully be his last one. That’s his last tick in the box.

As soon as that’s done this weekend he will be with us, which is exciting news.

MARK HUDSON:

How have you seen the WC break?

We’ve had players go away and you always fear they could get injured as it’s not in your control. Rubin has played in the World Cup, which is excellent for club and country.

We had Whitts’ memorial game, which is brilliant for the club, Foundation and everyone involved.

MARK HUDSON:

PW7 match, what was that like for you?

It caught me, the build-up I didn't try to think about it. Everyone who organised it did a fantastic job for Amanda and the boys.

It was emotionally draining and the boys who played in the game gave a great account of themselves.

It was long overdue.

Transfer window, eye on potential targets, what areas of the squad?

MARK HUDSON:

“Stoke, what challenge you expecting?

We know it is tough to go to. Any away game is. We spoke about them today. We put it in the boys’ minds. We will look into them and how they play and will go up there fully prepared.”

More on Isaak…

He is like a new signing! He has looked brilliant. Because we have had 17 new players come in, no one has seen Isaak yet. He has trained with us through this period and has looked sharp. He has excited a few of the players we have got. He has given a few of them a bit of the, ‘OK, this is the Isaak.’

He needs those minutes. They need to be ticked off. I look forward to Saturday when we’ve finished our game, they have finished theirs and we get the phone call to say he has come through fine and we can then go.

MARK HUDSON:

Ebou Adams

Yeah. He did have a setback within that. We have to be mindful of that. That’s something people won’t know. We protected him with that not long after pre-season. We didn’t want to rush it. He has come through that, he looks exciting and is raring to go.

Ebou Adams has something in his knee that needs tidying up. Ollie Denham back on the grass on Monday.

MARK HUDSON:

“It’s like a new start”

“It gives players an opportunity to get away. It was a clean break. The two Callums had two friendlies for their country and had a break after that. But we have been back together now this week and looking forward to Saturday.

I’d like to think we will come up better. We know there are things we need to work on.

The first half against Sheff United we could have finished those opportunities. We have looked at that and been through some of the video footage, managing the time the best we can.”

MARK HUDSON:

How great was it to play a PL team like Aston Villa , how beneficial?

“It was. We have done a lot of training in house.”

“This sets us up nicely for the Stoke game.”

“We could have possibly had another friendly but we brought intensity with other sessions we have done.”

“We have done well through this period and have everyone near-on fit, I have a good string squad.”

Cardiff in front of the cameras this weekend

Championship matches taking place at 3pm this weekend can be streamed live, at the discretion of the league's clubs.

The second tier schedule has been halted for a month owing to the World Cup break but resumes on Saturday - with Blackburn Rovers hosting Lancashire rivals Preston North End at midday.

That contest at Ewood Park will be screened live on Sky Sports, and, unusually, there will also be two 3pm Championship kick-offs shown by the TV giants on the same day.

Cardiff City's clash with Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium and Sheffield United's contest against Huddersfield Town at Bramall Lane will both be available to view live on Sky Sports via the red button from 2:55pm on Saturday.

Due to the Saturday afternoon closed window (Article 48) not applying during the World Cup, clubs have the opportunity to allow fans to stream their matches.

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch said: “With EFL fixtures continuing throughout the World Cup, we have a fantastic opportunity to showcase our competition, with supporters able to enjoy more access to watch their club play, whether at the ground, in the pub or at home.

“While the winter World Cup has brought challenges for domestic leagues, for the EFL it also brings this opportunity to test how the streaming of live matches during traditionally blocked hours is received by fans that wish to watch their team, wherever they may be.”

Rubin Colwill & Mark Harris

What do you expect from the players who have gone to WC?

I wouldn’t say (England loss) will dent them. Any experience is gained experience. They will have been around top, elite players. Seeing how they manage themselves. They are young players who continue to impress. They are both willing to do that.

Target for new year?

Points-wise, we are looking at it each game. This first one, then a week, then Blackpool and a little bit off after that.

I’m looking for consistency from the team, we need points.

Mark Hudson on McGuinness: ‘I'm not sure we will be discussing any kind of sale at the moment. That's not where we’re at and I’m buzzing that he’s doing well. That's something we are keen on and that’s why he went out on loan. I speak to him regularly and I watch what he’s doing.’

Cardiff City boss Mark Hudson: "It's been a bit disjointed, but we've been back together for a good period of time now, and done some really good work on the grass.

"I'd like to think that we can come back better. We're always asking for it, and that's something we'll continue to do. We know that there are things we need to work on, but there have been some really pleasing bits.

"I'm looking for consistency from the team, that whoever is used comes and shows their best selves.

"We know that Stoke is a tough place to go, but any away game in this league is. We've spoken about them, put it in the boys' minds of what we're going to experience when we go up there. We'll be fully prepared."
