TEAM NEWS: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff CityI: Allsop, Romeo, Ng, Kipre, Nkounkou; Wintle, Ralls, Rinomhota; O'Dowda, Robinson, Whyte.

Subs: Alnwick, Simpson, Sawyers, Ojo, Colwill, Etete, Harris.

For Cardiff, Jaden Philogene will miss the clash after having surgery to repair a hernia issue. He will hopefully be back next week.

That is the case for Isaak Davies, too. Davies will play for the under-21s today against Wolves to complete his final return-to-play protocol before his back in contention next week.

Ebou Adams is out after a setback thanks to a fresh injury to his knee. His frustrating wait on the sidelines remains.

Jamilu Collins is the long-term absentee, but all the players who went on international duty will be back and available for selection.

As for Stoke, Sam Clucas and Josh Laurent remain out of contention, but Harry Souttar returned from a knee injury to star for Australia at the World Cup, so he could be in contention.

Updated:

“Ebou Adams has something in his knee that needs tidying up. Ollie Denham back on the grass on Monday.”

Isaak Davies is back and is expected to be in the match day squad.

Virtually a fully fit squad

Jamilu Collins out for the season

Ebou Adams (pectoral muscle was out) but has been training the last 2 weeks

Sean Morison is in full training

Any news on injuries coming back?

Isaak Davies has completed his first 45 minutes, which is excellent news. He has still got some minutes this weekend to pick up, which will hopefully be his last one. That’s his last tick in the box.

As soon as that’s done this weekend he will be with us, which is exciting news.

Cardiff City's clash with Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium and Sheffield United's contest against Huddersfield Town at Bramall Lane will both be available to view live on Sky Sports via the red button from 2:55pm on Saturday.

Due to the Saturday afternoon closed window (Article 48) not applying during the World Cup, clubs have the opportunity to allow fans to stream their matches.

Stoke, what challenge you expecting?

We know it is tough to go to. Any away game is. We spoke about them today. We put it in the boys’ minds. We will look into them and how they play and will go up there fully prepared.

Kion Etete when I asked about Cardiff's lack of goals

"It has been addressed in the way we approach training. The finishing and the objectives of training were changed for the better and there are more goals going in."

Finally, it's a return to game day for our beloved Bluebirds with a tough away match against 'The Potters' Stoke City in their miserable stadium (a bit like the Liberty but in colour)

I'm hoping we put out a side that presses forward at every opportunity, much like the way we played in the PW7 testimonial

Hopefully, Kion Etete to get a run of games with Robinson and it would be great to see one or two of the other yougsters from that game on the bench at least

More game day (foorball) news as we have it... :bluescarf:

Oh that was very nearly a good opportunity for Cardiff. Allsop with a laser-like 60-yard pass to Romeo, who takes it down and cuts inside, but his pass doesn't reach Robinson.

Ralls with a nice, floated ball over the top to O'Dowda, who tries to skin Harry Clarke, but is quelled near the edge of Stoke's box.

Wintle crosses after a short corner is taken, but the official flags for offside and Stoke can get it clear.

Re: MATCH THREAD: STOKE CITY V CARDIFF CITY MATCH THREAD

Sat Dec 10, 2022 3:06 pm

Oh that was poor from O'Dowda. He loses possession to Tyrese Campbell while running back to his own goal. Wilmot slaps a shot from close range and it hits the side-netting.

Great tackle! A goal-saving tackle from Ralls. Baker is about to pull the trigger in the middle of the box and the skipper slides in to dispossess him.

Robinson does well to shrug off Souttar's challenge nd hits a lovely ball out to Romeo, who fluffs his lines as he goes to cross and Bonham collects.

Dreadful game management. Needed to keep posession for ten minutes. Robinson needs to hold up the ball more. I will take this scoreline at full time now,
