Says Glen Williams

Monday 5th December 2022

Cardiff City continue to bring future stars through to the first team.

Mark Harris,
Chanka Zimba
Isaak Davies
Oliver Denham
Kieron Evans
Ciaron Brown
Sam Bowen
Keenan Patten
Joel Bagan
Tom Sang
James Waite
Ibrahim Bakere
Joe Day
James Connolly
Caleb Hughes
Rubin Colwill
George Ratcliffe
El King

After seeing the likes of Mark Harris, Chanka Zimba, Isaak Davies, Oliver Denham, Kieron Evans, Ciaron Brown, Sam Bowen, Keenan Patten, Tom Sang, James Waite, Ibrahim Bakere, Joe Day, James Connolly, Caleb Hughes, George Ratcliffe and El King graduate to the first team in recent years, with James Crole also very much pushing,Gabriele Biancheri, the 16-year-old Cardiff City player will likely be heartened to see the pathway in front of him. He trained with the under-21s last week before getting the call to play, which, at 16, points to the club's faith in him.

Plus once again another batch of City's future stars coming through Says Glen Williams

It's also worth mentioning winger Tanatswa Nyakuhwa, who is also catching the eye with his impressive numbers. The forward, 17, has notched seven goals in 12 games for the under-18s this season after producing 17 goals and 10 assists for the under-16s last year. He is very much on the radar of the under-21s, too.

After Crole, Morgan Wigley, Caleb Hughes and Joel Colwill stepped up to play against Premier League side Aston Villa in the Peter Whittingham Memorial Match last week, all of whom acquitted themselves very well, the club's renewed mantra of bringing through youth does appear to be somewhere near the top of the agenda.

Who is Gabriele Biancheri, the 16-year-old Cardiff City starlet linked with Man Utd and Chelsea who just made the step up
The Bluebirds have had a line of strikers come through the academy in recent years, but have eventually failed to make the grade, but this young Bluebird is the latest to get supporters excited.

Despite the defeat by Wolves Under-21s on Saturday, there was much to be encouraged by if you are a Cardiff City fan.

One that slipped under the radar was the introduction of Wales Under-17 international Gabriele Biancheri in the second half. Darren Purse brought the 16-year-old on to replace Davies at the break.

And, despite playing five years above himself, he was the one who almost provided the equaliser for the young Bluebirds at Leckwith, showing just why faith was placed in him to make the step up to the under-21s.

He latched on to a looped through ball before bringing it under his spell, opening up his body and attempting to bend it into the corner. However, Wolves keeper Andreas Sondergaard saved well.

The step up from the under-18s is just reward for the positive start to the campaign which Biancheri has enjoyed. He has 17 goals and five assists in all football over the last few months, including a brace against Bristol City last week for the under-18s which saw Cardiff come away with the spoils in the Severnside derby.

I think Barclay is spot on. Surprised Ashford wasn't mentioned in the article. What's happened to him? There are a few promising 16 year olds coming through so maybe we might produce another Ledley or Ramsey.

Look at EVERY club and their long list of 'didn't make the grade ' and you will find ours is a very short list also the tapped up parents who think their child is the next Messi and follow the bright lights only to see their child dumped on the way.

Totally agree Jules with that.

But Glen Williams on behalf of Dalman has exaggerated beyond on some of these players, nearly two years ago he made out we had 10-12 very talented players come through, actually only one has made it so far, with probably one more and thats good in my opinion, but Media Wales keep bullshitting saying stars beyond are coming through.

Young Players then have to live up to big expectations.

No need as fans then expect way to much then.

I'd doubt any of them would make the "star" word tbh. Most would be playing weekly as it is. The problem is people still think a player who's 22 and 23 are kids if they was good enough and ripping it up then they would be playing weekly already and moved on to a bigger club tbh or prem team. We don't have any stars at all in my opinion, the story by this glen bloke is talking absolute nonsence. :bluescarf:

Absolutely spot on, at their ages they should of made it ages ago, the kid thing needs to be stopped.

Yep, by the age of 20 you should have made some sort of impact, with the possible exception of centre backs and big centre forwards.

Of the current crop Colwill and Davies have made an impact but due to injuries have lost some time. I think they’ll make it.

Next crop though really do look exciting. Particularly Joel Colwill but others too. I think the younger Colwill may well get into the first team squad this season as I think he is mature beyond his years.

The others still have time.

I've said for a while we got 5 year batch of potential.
But the problem is when you step up to men's league it's guess work. People have potential against people their age.
But it's where the saying separate the men from the boys come from.

Equally we've had 3 or 4 pouched which have become good players.
