Late fitness tests sadly go against us for tonight, with neither Moz or Rallsy able to feature.

Peter Whittingham

Cardiff City v Aston Villa

Cardiff squad for tonight: Youngsters Caleb Hughes, Joel Colwill, Morgan Wigley and James Crole to be rewarded for their positive academy displays with minutes against Aston Villa.

Sean Morrison will also be assessed before the game and could play some part

Isaak Davies and Ebou Adams won't play, but the former might feature in an in-house game at the weekend. So he's getting very close.

Mark Harris, Rubin Colwill, Callum O'Dowda and Callum Robinson all absent owing to being on international duty.

Manager Mark Hudson said:

“I've spoken with Villa, and they're bringing everyone, and we've got unlimited subs, so it will be an opportunity for all to get minutes within it."

Of course, we remember Peter Whittingham tonight. But it should also be noted that a year ago today, Bluebirds legend and record appearance-maker Phil 'Joe' Dwyer passed away aged 68.

Both legends. Both rightly have banners permanently in situ at Cardiff City Stadium.

I just wish I could be there, out in Doha coming back in the morning, wishing everyone a good evening. I will raise an expensive glass to that wand of a left foot and more importantly a great person to serve the bluebirds for 10 years R I P Peter

Great goal by Tanner. Hes been the main threat for City. City have grown in to the game and played some decent stuff at times. Both Whyte and Tanner have got behind the full backs. Interesting listening to Morison on commentary. Definitely sounds positive he could making a return in Jan.

What's wrong with Ralls again surley as one of the only players who would have played along side Whitts he could have made some effort in respect of a great team player.

You expect him to play through an injury?

Some very impressive performances from a number of youngsters

Etete got better throughout the game, and the performances of the youngsters in midfield in the 2nd half was excellent. Joel Colwill looks excellent, I don’t think he missed a single pass and demanding it everywhere.

I have a feeling that the next bunch of youngsters are going to be better than the current crop.

A good celebration of Whitts tonight and the club, and those who attended, did everything very well tonight.

Andrew, Ollie Tanner showed (for me) he is serious contender for a first team call up. He played very well, made the right movements and put a couple of class crosses in that wouldn't have been out of place in a Villa shirt...

Also for me, in a pretty competitive game for a 'friendly', there were some promising performances from Kion Etete, Joel Colwill, Joel Bagan, Deonte Campbell and Gavin Whyte

Our squad is not as poor as some would have us believe and thecaddition of a decent striker or two in January will surely see our season turn around in the positive...

Ollie Tanner my MotM but Kion Etete close on his tail... :ayatollah:

Etete second half was everything we have been wanting from him but previously looked incapable of mustering

He chased down. He pressured the defenders. Some
Neat touches and scored with his feet and his head. Great effort.

Tanner first half once he settled looked really good. Looked nervy early on but as tbr game progressed he looked a real threat and took his goal really well.

Great evening and wonderful to have such a good turnout for a great man and a great cause.

Thank you to the travelling villa fans too. They were just as much part of the evening as us home fans.

When is Ralls mot injured. Should have let him go. A player on a decent salary doing so little for the team. There is always something wrong with him.
