Gareth Bale has reiterated his intentions:

Wed Nov 30, 2022 7:16 am

Gareth Bale has reiterated his intention to continue his international career with Wales despite enduring a miserable World Cup campaign in Qatar.

Wales were hammered 3-0 by rivals England on Tuesday night, a result that sees them finish bottom of Group B, with only one goal to their name.

Bale was of course the man to net that strike against the USA, but has otherwise struggled to make his mark on football's biggest stage, and was hauled off at half-time during the mauling by the Three Lions.

"Everyone's disappointed but I think we're all proud of what we've achieved to get here," he told the BBC after the game.

"To do something no other Welsh team has done. To qualify [for a World Cup]. We have to look at how far we've come. Of course we would have loved to have gone past the group. But football's difficult, it's not always easy.

"Teams go through good runs and bad runs and we didn't quite live up to our expectations this tournament.

"But we'll take massive experience from it and we really need to look at how far we've come. To be at a World Cup, if you'd asked us that two years ago, we would have all pinched ourselves.

"So we need to realise how far we've come. How proud we all are of each other to have worked really hard to get here.

"Like I said, it's disappointing to go out. But we'll all walk out of that changing room with our heads held high and proud of each other."

However, having crashed out of the World Cup, questions over what comes next for Bale will likely intensify, despite his insistence this week he has no intention of walking away from international football

Asked whether he'd be involved in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers in March he replied: "I will keep going as long as I can and as long as I am wanted. It's a difficult moment now obviously.

"We go again. We have a qualifying campaign starting up again in March and we have a few months to get away from international football for months, which is obviously disappointing. But we go again in March."

When pressed further on whether that campaign would involve Bale, he simply replied: "I hope so, yes."

If he does play in the team from now on we got to find a position that doesn't involve too much running as sadly his legs have gone .

He has to decide does he want it more than playing golf basically
He was fit to get onto the pitch but not fit enough to play last night i don' t think he can motivate himself anymore his days of bombing on taking on players has gone sadly

Wez all great players find a niche position in a team when get older look at Giggs as prime example... modric brilliant at 37 both use their technical skills to teams advantage..... trouble is does page have the ability to fit bale into a system that will enhance the team? We have the players to enable bale to carry on its whether page can see it? Can say Same for Rambo but theres only room for two such players so allen may need to be sacrificed as a 1st choice. To accommodate them

Bale still has a few years if he can play regular football, same with Rambo and Allen. They lacked match fitness for this tournament. Also, in hindsight, i think we should've played 4 at the back from the first game.

If Bale was playing for the likes of Argentina, Italy or France he would be surrounded by quality that could carry him. He would be able to play for a few years more in such teams.

Can still do so but it needs change of mindset by page to let that happen.

I'm watching Messi tonight and he's totally different class compared to Bale, he's older and still got the legs .

Bale,Rambo and Allen need to get fit if they want to continue to play for Wales! Bale would be useful to come on for the last 20 minutes if we need a goal and the defenders are getting tired? That’s how LA seem to use him these days!

Re: Gareth Bale has reiterated his intentions:

Bale hasn't got the legs for a high press so off the ball it's like playing with 10 men. He hasn't got the quality around him either to create chances for him to produce a moment of magic. He's barely played the last few years and it's showing in his recent performances. Time to be squad player and bring some youngsters through.

To prepare for the world cup He should have done what Bellemy done and come to Cardiff and manage the amount of games/minutes he played. Been off the pace for a long time now.

Modric was fantastic as usual today... no reason why bale Ramsey can be up there given fitness is addressed.

PEMBROKE ALLAN

Sign for cardiff and they can get fit playing twice a week i fear qnd rwading between the lines
bale is happier on the golf course these days and i would not blame him trying to keep fit constantly takes a toll
Nevill southall gave it all up all that trainning.

If go by bales comments hes playing on and that means golf takes back seat unquestionably.... thi k the decision is where fiesta he get maximum game time and fitness? Does playing on plastic pitches with high temperatures of MLS best for him? He's got a month off if hes staying in mls before training starts with league starting in feb.. no way is he coming here but two different scauces give impression hes thinking of leaving MLS time will tell if this is true
