So very disappointing by Cardiff fans

Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:12 pm

Looks like we’ve sold under 7,000 tickets for the Whitts memorial match and that’s included in Villa’s away support. Call ourselves loyal, devoted and respectful to a great legend Peter Whittingham, it’s worse than disappointing by our fans, I live in Barnet, if I can make the trip , surely those living near by can turn up?

Understand what your saying and it is disappointing but to say City fans are not loyal and devoted I can only presume that you attend every game home and away?

Agree - that is really poor. At his peak Whitts was the best player I've seen for us in many many years. Let's hope there is a big walk up crowd. I'll be there - probably the only game I will make this season. I made sure I would be in the UK especially & chuffed my son bought me a ticket as a birthday present.

Mate your not saying 30000 Cardiff fans are over there  or are you saying the club have got it all wrong?
If it had been in the summer mate you would of said everyone was on holiday then

Whitt’s gave us over 10 years service and we could at least turn up and repay his memory, club gave plenty of notice. I will travel 300 mile round trip as I think we should turn up

It's poor should be at least 16,000 + irrelevant of when it's played. However the timing is terrible especially for families. If the summer weren't viable at least play on a Saturday during the world cup.

Yes. A perfect pre season friendly.

Or a warm up before season restarts after 4wks off? Thats probably the thinking behind date.

It’s a shameful response from our fans to a player who gave his all to this club..
all this ‘ City loves you more than you will know’ is just lip service from a lot of our fans.
Well done to those that have bought tickets..

That's abysmal to be honest, I'm making the effort to travel up from Poole with my daughter. Two generations paying their respects, my dad would have gone too as a 3rd generation, but he is in his 80s, vulnerable and anxious about COVID etc. It should have been a pre season game.

Shameful and shocking .the man deserves a big attendance the vast majority of our fanbase is here not in Qatar.

I’ll be there but I’m sorry, the club have dropped a massive bollock on this. Scheduling it during a World Cup, midweek and with no legends or ex teammates (bar Ralls/ Mozza/ Huds) involved. It’s literally a warm up friendly with Whitts’ name plastered on it and falls way short of how he should be honoured. How the club get it so wrong time and time again doesn’t surprise me but this was so easy to get right. Hopefully they honour him properly in the summer.

You have a bit of a nerve here, barnet blue

Who are you to be 'disappointed' with people who choose for many reasons (some personal) not to attend this match barnet blue...? :?

You're another 'nip in, nip out' merchant who rarely follows up on your comments; some of which I believe are fed to you through certain elements of this Forum

Let the people decide for themselves whether they attend Whitts testimonial or not

Whilst a crowd of c.7k would be somewhat disappointing, it should be remembered this testimonial is (a) well overdue, (b) in the build up to Xmas, (c) midweek, (d) during a World Cup Finals of which Wales are a part and (e) because of the club's lethargy on the matter...

It is each individual's right to choose and it is not for you to call them out for it, regardless of whether you claim you will be travelling from London or not...

Personally, against my usual trend of not attending so-called testimonials, friendlies or pre-season games, I will be attending Whitts testimonial. Not too appease the likes of you, but more because of how I personally valued Whitts as a player and as a man

Others will have their own reasons for going or not, and they have to be respected; a word seemingly missing from your vocabulary...

The club dropped a bollock? Middle of world cup? Etc . funny how that ain't affecting villa they are bringing 5000 apparently for a mid week trip .if thats true and the Cardiff fans don't turn up in numbers I'll find that both shocking and fcking shameful

Sven your just a bully and yes I stand by what I have said, I am travelling down and to pay my respects. If the crowd is under 10000 it’s more than a disgrace as Villa have thousands coming , I will probably get a warning now

Bully...????

If that's your best effort, I feel for you, barnet blue...!

Honest question: Why would you (quote) "probably get a warning"?

For having an opinion...? Uhm, no...!

For calling me a (quote) "bully"? Uhm no...!

Because you think calling me that will get a rise...? Uhm, definitely no...!

Maybe because you have encountered me under another name or names? Uhm, most definitely yes...!

Information suggests you're not from Barnet either, and on reflection I can see the irony in you using that particular name

1k, 5k, 10k or 100k, so long as you are there, don't worry about the choices of others. It's theirs to make... ;)

The point is that Whitts deserves so much better than the crowd we had. Make all the excuses you want, but I’ve no doubt there were 1,000’s of fans who could have gone but couldn’t be bothered. I guess Whitts meant a lot more to some than others.

That's a good point but each person will have had their (valid to them) reason and it was not for barnet blue to judge them

I only went because it was for Whitts and I was well entertained by two sides that made a decent game of it

barnet blue is an odd one; and it hasn't gone unnoticed that he and a certain Ninian27 only appear at strategic times (as noticed by others, too)

Fingers should be pointed at the club for the shambolic handling and timing of this
