I didn't see the match as I was out and about but just watched the Red card now. I'm curious how others saw it and im not looking with Wales tinted spectacles. Looking at a video on YouTube the striker flicks the ball slightly taking it away from Hennessey meaning he misses it and causes the collision which naturally the attacker makes the most of. If that was any outfield player it would be a yellow and a free kick and nothing more no VAR no complaints. Should the referee be allowed to stick to their thoughts and maybe common sense come into this?
For me I think that because of the touch for the striker that makes it look far worse as if it weren't for that Hennessey would be a hero for clearing the danger... just wondering if others are seeing same as me or if I'm talking out of my arse

Unfortunately what he did is only way that a goalie can be sent off other than deliberate hand ball outside area.... no matter how it happened it was a straight red why ref didnt give it 1st time god knows.... but probably right about outfield player .. var did its job correctly for a change

Yea I can understand that aspect. It's just a bit annoying that even with the replay and seeing there is no intent and it wasn't really reckless as he could/would of connected with the ball had it not been tapped forwards then common sense could kick in. Especially as in WC the stakes are so much higher but I suppose that argument could be made for any match

Yes it could be argued... so if it was inside area probably a yellow as attempted to play ball.. but it was reckless even if wasn't dangerous..... no way can it be other than a red unless he actually touched ball? what striker did is irrelevant really its what Hennessey did that matters

100% a red card; but myself and those watching all initially agreed it was a yellow, as there were players ready intercept, i.e. the keeper was not the last man. The referee seemingly agreed
On seeing the replay from a different angle, it was clear Hennessy was (at best) reckless and could have caused a serious head injury to the American player
Red Card all day long and in his last Wales game, too...!

Definitely a red.
But very similar to what that LiVARpool keeper did last season Vs us at Anfield.
Obviously only a yellow then.

Completely smashes the goalkeepers head, would have been a red card on the rugby pitch too.
Red all day long.

Yes a yellow if it's a ref or var in premier league!

Chris if he did that in area may got away with it as attempted to play ball and that constitutes double jeopardy rule "IF" ref didnt see it as reckless/dangerous play.... but way he went in plus outside the area it was a red card even for premier league refs/var officials... and yes must be last game for Wales
