We won playing below par

Sun Sep 26, 2010 12:03 am

The trouble with me is I don't give two hoots about things during a game providing we win but afterwards I start analysing things and have little arguments with myself in my head about the game, good things and bad things...probably the same as the majority of City fans...

Before the game.

Today I was treated by a good mate to a day in the Diamond lounge...great seats and top day to be fair.
The problem was the guest was our midfield dynamo Oli...once again unfit to play...so that was the first worry of the day...he did say he was confident he would play Saturday but hoped to make the Palace game....we were given team sheets and seeing no sign of our new centre half on top of the already missing Oli, Drinkwater, Chops and Bellamy did not fill me with confidence, but to be fair we have won without them already this season so I was hopeful.

The first half was a poor effort by us and although we missed a pen and they were a man down I felt happy with a draw at that stage...I also said he could not be that bad second half....we were

Saying that the team get plugging away and the last minute winner was not really deserved but we have had enough shit over the years so I am happy to take it and it was a cracking goal by a player I was slagging off for most of the game.

So I think we were lucky Today but don't really give a shit because we won

If I had to mark the team and be brutally honest I would do this

Heaton 7 not really much to do
McNaughton 7 my man of the match
Naylor 3 Awful
Blake 5 not great Today
Burke 6 a shadow of himself
Whitts 6 Where is he half the time
Hudson 6 Struggled at times but not the worse Today
Gypes 6 as above
Keough 5 because he scored
Bothroyd 6 but need to play 90 minutes drifts out of games
Mc Phail 5 no where near his best

That is over critical marking after a good win and probably unfair but its just my view on Today and at the end of the day I am happy.

I ALSO THINK THAT PLAYERS CURRENTLY NOT AT THEIR BEST WILL COME GOOD AS SOON AS THE INJURED STARS RETURN...WE HAVE NOWHERE NEAR PEAKED YET AND ARE SECOND.

Got to be VT and TG stepping up, maybe full takeover ??? Maybe more investment from others ??? Maybe sponsorship for the stadium ???
