I do recall a number of cited reasons, which included a 'bust up' with Tan himself (self-destruction) and 'fall-outs' with certain players, inc. (allegedly) Rubin Colwill

Lack of info from the club should surprise no one these days but it always seemed odd his (Morison's) departure was so abrupt, despite mixed results at that time

Exactly, Morison apparently became a bully to a few of the U21’s and was getting worse, then he and Tan started to fall out on opinions and Morison did start to ignore and be arrogant to Tan.
Morison did not want to be a yes man.

Annis, I agree with what you write above, having initially backed Morison over his 'tough love' approach to the youngsters, who seemingly included Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies...

What I have now gathered from a couple of non-Forum sources is that reports of a physical altercation are not wholly denied but are unfounded in actual substance

What appears to be nearer the truth (as stated reasonably accurately by yourself and others on the original threads) is that there was a bust up between Steve Morison and Vincent Tan about a lack of playing time for certain youngster, which we could reasonably assume (given Tan's 'play the youth' dictate) to include Rubin Colwill and/or others like Isaak Davies, Eli King, etc. etc...?

The discussion between owner and manager, again as we were initially told, was an explosive one and no (proverbial) punches were pulled to the extent that Morison effectively 'walked' at the same time as being 'sacked'

There was no indication of whether Tan was 'interfering' during games or that Morison had deliberately 'ignored' any calls during a game or whether Tan genuinely 'hassled' any manager at any point...

Whatever the truth, it seems the latter days/moments of Steve Morison's days were a bit of a mess and the question I'd like to know is whether this particular issue lay at the feet of Morison, Tan or both...?

Certainly where I look from, it is never a good thing to pi$$ off the boss, who will almost certainly hold the upper hand...

We will never know, it's just a rumour, none of this is a fact, the only fact is that he has gone.
