Mark Harris missing that final killer instinct

Sun Nov 13, 2022 2:49 pm

I think hes improved massively this season but it's frustrating as I can't fault his commitment, his running and general team play, its his final killer instinct around the box to get the goals need at this level ,it's frustrating, surly we need a good striking coach to get that part of his game better .

Wez i think we all believe he is not a championship central striker but he works hard on the flanks and gets back to defend. My issue is he is playing on the wrong side as all our newer managers believe in copying the top teams with top players and playing them inverted.

Mark Harris is not Mo Salah, he can't run at full pace, cut in, shimmy, burn past you and shoot on either foot, why expect him too ? He and Ojo are so one-footed its stupid, allow them to burn you on the outside and cross the ball in or get fouled in the penalty box. But, they keep cutting in into traffic and lose the ball. The space is always on the outside it has to be instinctive and too many of our "strikers" have to tee the ball up onto their leading foot and you only have a split second to make it count. Earnie would have buried two chances yesterday, but never would have tracked back like Harris

Agree about earnie, I was saying yesterday to a few at the game maybe we need to bring players like earnie into our coaching staff to help out .

We simply need a proper striker who is instinctive and can use either foot + their head? Get that in January and we'll climb table..... harris will never be that player and despite results we are missing out because despite creating chances we miss those chances... yesterdays stats was almost 50/50 and been same I fair few games this season so it's not hard to see the lack of a hougill type player is costing us badly.

That type of coaching needs to be done at youth level. My hope is Issak Davies would have smacked every chance first time either foot even if he sky'd it.

Sheffield where missing there top 2 strikers but still managed to beat us we had our top strikers in
But our left back gave them the goal same as midweek and hudson a defence coach still picks him.

Yes their full back scored two teams with no strikers so appropriate that a defender scores

Mark Harris at 24 yrs old has played under 7 different Cardiff managers and all eventually give up on him, they all give him a chance, but after only 9 goals in 6 years and nearly 80 appearances, that says it all.

Plus did absolutely awful on loan at Non league Wrexham 24 appearances 3 goals . Newport County 16 / 2 & Port Vale 6 / 0 sums it up.

Very very cheap wages and that’s what our squad is about and the planning, not quality , but how cheap.
Then we finally bring quality in Calum Robinson, but not surrounded with enough quality so that’s why we are 1pt of relegation.

A player who gives 110% but just not a striker.

Nice bloke very hard working, great attitude and engine, but can't hit a barn door from six feet.

We need a Striker, Robinson's is much better but nowhere near Earnie, Chopra, Bothroyd, Helgeson, Frazer Campbell, McCormack, Thorne, or Kieffer!

I suppose we've been spoilt over the years.

Apart from kiether Moore, we havny had a good striker since chopra.

Why is he in the team?
Very poor, a good try hard but nothing else. So frustrating.

The lucky fcker is off to a
world Cup too. Mad.
Hudson is shite. Two games now picking the same shite and not reading the games early
enough. Hudson needs to be bolder and sharper or sack is coming...

Totally agree. i've lost count on the amount of chances that MH has fluffed due to no confidence in his left foot. :bluescarf:

If you look at his goals they have been when had a clear shot with his favourite foot! Good goals but shows where his weakness is when it comes to taking the half chance or being on wrong foot when in on goal

It’s simple, The Dictator has left managers with the cheapest of strikers and therefore he is played.
Watters another player on cheap wages, but even worse.
Etete like a donkey and has not cost us £500,000 he has to have played 20 first team games.

That sir is why we are 1pt above relegation.

funnily i think he would do a great job as a winger for us. runs the channels, uses his pace well, and can go wide or behind the defender, i'd play him as a winger instead of Ojo

We can always hope he comes back from world cup a better player
Agree on him being a wide forward mind and think his attitude is spot on
