Good luck to him but find this a very strange appointment when you look at their past recruitment.

Gobsmacked by this appointment, never thought it would happen.
Have a few friends who are ‘Saints’ fans and they are not at all happy.
Good luck to him . o

I think he'll turn it around, great underdog us against the world manager.
The good news is Luton may be worse than us in the second part of the season

He’s the fourth local boy that’s become a Premier League Football Manager who would have loved to managed his local club but we looked elsewhere! The others, John Toshack the greatest Manager to come out of Wales, Tony Pulis who took Stoke up to the Premier League and kept them there for many years and also kept Crystal Palace Up when they were bottom and way below us when he took over and he won Premier League Manager of the Year and Steve Cooper who took Forest up from again bottom of the table while we stuck with Big Mick for a few more weeks!

I'd say more of a brave (or silly) decision by Southampton for employing him. Even allowing for their league position I would say they are a very attractive proposition for many managers around Europe and find it unfathomable that they should plump for Nathan Jones. Oh well time will tell if they've got it spot on or not.

FFS he is rough around the edges and Welsh so he must be shit
His Luton team shouldn't be in the championship, forget about doing well...
If he bombs then welcome home Nathan with no cost for the 2023 season

Why shouldn't his Luton team be in the Championship ? They have spent over 50 seasons in the top two divisions and since the 70's they've been in the top tier longer than us.

I believe he's saying that based on the size of the club Luton have no right to be in the Championship and Jones did a superb job there.
