‘ Jonny Williams / Chris Gunter ‘

Rob Page all but confirming Jonny Williams & Chris Gunter will be in the squad next week. Despite playing in L2 they created the environment.

No room for sentiment they need to be dropped

Both shouldn’t have a sniff at this squad

Is that another 'drug' joke...? :?

It's hard to tell, as you recreate so many threads to emphasise your self-indulgent points from others... ;)

Chris Gunter

15 years service for the national team, always turns up for friendlies. 109 caps!

Is only 33, bags of experience and can cover both FB positions.

He's earned his selection in my book.

I agree - leave them out and replace them with who exactly, especially so given out only other right back is Neco Williams and most of the first choice midfield are injured or way off match fitness...

We can pick 26 players and culture/dressing room is very important at a World Cup. Look at France in 2010 and how it imploded.

Our tight knit dressing room more than anything else got us to semis of Euro 16. We won't be getting that far on talent so we might as well emphasise the positives we do have, one of which is the team culture and spirit.

Jazz was awaiting a call to Haverfordwest but according to the chap in club store he's injured.

Gunter yes for versatility but JW ffs.

Are you pissed, the first choice right back is Connor Roberts.

I totally agree that Jonnie Williams should NOT be in the squad. He should have been out a couple of years ago imho.

Neither of them should be anywhere near it, Connor Roberts and Neco Williams more than cover any position that Gunter would and Jonny Williams just shouldn’t be taking a space. If Page wanted them in there for Team Bonding then he should find a space for them amongst his back room staff. Both are a complete waste of a squad place. I could be swayed on Gunter but not Jonny Williams (no offence Jonny, thanks for the memory’s)

Harsh - got my left and right backs mixed up. Yes, you are right Roberts is our first choice right back, but I would still take Gunter as back up. Our midfield appears to be well under strength unless we get some miraculous recoveries from injuries [might happen as wouldn't be the first time] and while I am not a huge fan of Williams, we need bodies as it seems unlikely that Allen, Ramsey are going to be fit enough to play 90 minutes.

If its all about keeping the oldies Page might as well put his boots back on. I could see England taking oldies or 2nd rate players just because they were the managers friends. Page is taking the team backwards. OK he got the team to the World Cup after all the hard work done by previous managers. Where is his ambition? Who has he brought in? The team represents Wales not the Pages oldies. It serms certain players are left out because they fell out with him. As Iv said its Wales FC not The Page Fc.

I’d rather see Will Vaulks in the squad before Jonny Williams and that’s saying something.

You would hope that once they’ve been to a World Cup they’d have some self awareness and retire from international football.

Maybe with the squads being extended for this tournament you could just about argue for their inclusion given their historical contribution getting us to this point, but no chance going beyond this.

Exactly and Jonny Williams problem has been injuries. If fit- which i presume he is- he is a decent player and i cant think of anyone who has missed out as a result. And he is no has been. Hard to believe but he only turned 29 last month.
