Meet with Tan, added pressure?

No. I think the pressure is trying to deliver to the players what we want to deliver in the game. We have recovered as best we can. We focus on the next result. It’s about playing with intensity and freedom like we have done.

Hudson

Going to meet Tan, met him before?

Yeah I met him when I played here. We will meet and then we will discuss what needs to be discussed. I am just really looking forward to putting a performance on.

Hudson

Monday 7th November 2022

Defender Cedric Kipre and midfielder Ryan Wintle are both suspended for the match after they picked up their fifth yellow card of the season.

MARK HUDSON:

Brand new squad, how long does it take to get that togetherness?

When you bring in 17 new players, a big turnaround of staff, it’s going to take time to gel. They have to get used to each other. They are together a lot. The habits grow every week. The results and performances are showing they are growing together and everyone is now pushing to get in the team.

Hudson

Permanent manager by end of week?

Good question. We are working hard together. Everyone is driving the right direction. That’s all we can ask. We will try and play with the same vigour and intensity this week.

Hudson

MARK HUDSON:

Sunderland a good result?

A really good result. Really pleasing performance. We dominated the first half and grew into the game. Had a penalty, should have scored. Started the second as well as we did the first. We had to back up that first half and show resilience late on.

It was a really good performance but we spin around really quickly now.

We have spoken about the consistency of performance. The performances have been there, barring a flat Coventry game and the sendings off. It’s about turning that into wins.

But to travel up there after a busy week, to play like that, showing them how well we can play, it’s growing every week. We can use that going forward, hopefully we will tomorrow.

If you beat Hull there is a healthy gap between you both?

The table is the table at the moment. We need to continue that consistency. They have to play with that intensity every game.

Last chance for Wales players to play, Colwill?

He’s been back on the grass. So it’s the best thing for him to be on the grass. We will see.

Mark Harris, will he get on the plane?

He has been brilliant for us and the lads. He works tirelessly every day and wants to improve. He could have scored in the first half, but his opportunity was always going to come.

Last couple of games before WC break. Important to get wins now?

It’s been busy. The period is. It’s very different with the WC break coming up. We will concentrate on the two home games.

Hull have got a new manager. Liam has gone in there. We know it’s going to be a tough game.

We will look at Sheff U after that.

Callum Robinson back, champing at the bit?

Yeah he is champing at the bit! Of course he is. He wants to come back. We know he has got quality. We know how good he has been since he come into the group. We welcome him back tomorrow.

It’s not putting pressure on him, we know he has got quality. It’s for him to play his way and in our system.

MARK HUDSON:

What have you made of Max Watters this season?

I’ve sat with Max. We have talked about freeing him up a little bit. Not carrying the burden or the pressure. I’ll spend time with everyone, work out ways we can improve everyone. With strikers, you want them to score goals, but he came on and put in a shift, his numbers said he did as well. It was just a tactical one, using our last sub right in the dying moments.

MARK HUDSON:

What head space is Watters in?

It’s about working hard. We have sat with him. I sat with him last week to speak about what we can do on the training field to improve those instincts, that movement. That’s the same with everyone. We are here to develop every player individually so we can have a better team every week.

Cedric and Ryan out, selection dilemma?

It’s an opportunity for others. They are suspended. It happens. We have prepared everyone. They are all fit and wanting to play. If someone is out then you’ve got to come in and take it.

MARK HUDSON:

Curtis Nelson not played as much as he would have liked, how difficult is it to keep someone like that happy and onside?

Every player wants to play all the time, you can only pick XI. We sit and speak with every player and have a plan. When you’re not playing you know you want to be in the team and it’s about managing that disappointment.

It’s a long season, there are a lot of games. We have had to change it in recent weeks.

Derby linked with Nelson

Derby County are reportedly weighing up a move for Cardiff City defender Curtis Nelson.

According to the Sun, the Rams are keen on a January move for the 29-year-old, who's largely struggled to nail down a regular place in Cardiff's starting line-up this season.

Nelson has made seven appearances in the Championship so far, starting just three of those.

The report claims Nelson "could be interested" in making the move to Pride Park, particularly given it would bring the Staffordshire native closer to home.

Derby, meanwhile, are currently having to play left-back Craig Forsyth in the centre of their defence due to injuries to Curtis Davies and James Chester.

Speaking about the January window this week, Derby boss Paul Warne said: "At the moment, you have a blank piece of paper and have all the players who are available and affordable and because of our situation,” he said. “It makes it a bit more difficult.

“I think we need at least three signings. If we don't get three then I think we've had a poor window."

Re: MARK HUDSON:

Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:40 pm

Mark Hudson has hailed the impact of goalscorer Mark Harris, after the Wales forward's goal helped Cardiff return to winning ways.

Harris struck just after half-time, having missed an earlier opportunity in the first half, and Hudson says he was delighted by the work-rate and determination shown by the Wales international.

Speaking after the win on Wearside, he said:

MARK HUDSON:

"I said to Sparky at half-time: 'Don't worry about the one you missed, it'll happen. Keep going, keep believing, and you'll get your moment', and he did.

"I'm really delighted for him, and for all of the players. They've put in so much hard work, and they showed a real fight and togetherness at the end there, where you've got to put your body on the line, and they did that.

"Testament to the ones who have not played; we spoke about it this morning and last night. Everyone wants to be on the pitch, but you have to be ready, because you have to come on and make an impact.

"It's going to take everyone throughout the season, and it shows that the subs are really willing and ready to come on - they know their jobs."

Re: MARK HUDSON:

Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:44 pm

Mark Harris himself admits he's hoping interim boss Mark Hudson will be handed the reins at Cardiff City on a full-time basis.

Hudson oversaw a ninth game since the departure of predecessor Steve Morison on Saturday, as the Bluebirds picked up an impressive 1-0 win over Sunderland, with Harris netting the decisive goal.

The former Cardiff skipper revealed in his post-match press conference that he is set for talks with Vincent Tan over his long-term future at the club, having previously stated he was hopeful of the club being able to offer 'clarity' on what the future holds.

And Harris is in no doubt that the current caretaker boss is the right man to lead the club forward.

MARK HARRIS:

"Yeah I think so," he said when asked if he'd like to see Hudson stay on board. "He's been brilliant with me. He's been brilliant with all the lads so hopefully, if results like this continue, I'm sure he will be.

"I think that [clarity] will probably come soon. But we all see him as the gaffer at the minute and hopefully that continues."

You speak to Tan a lot, clearly he cares because he is still very involved?

Yeah I speak regularly with him. That’s because of where he lives, with the pandemic it’s been difficult for him to travel. That’s where we are at. He is coming over and he is here to support the club. He has been doing that. I have that communication with him all the time, the open channel is there, which is good.

I think you have to talk about short, medium and long term. We want to put plans in place for the football club. It’s not just been about the now, it’s been about the future as well

Mark Hudson reveals 'long-term' talks with Tan

Cardiff boss Mark Hudson has revealed he speaks to owner Vincent Tan about the long-term future of the Bluebirds.

Hudson is set to meet Tan on Tuesday ahead of the clash with Hull to discuss his future as manager of the club. However, it is not only the short term Hudson has been speaking about with the owner, they have also been discussing their visions of what the club looks like going forward.

"I speak regularly with him," Hudson said of Tan. "Because of where he lives, with the pandemic it’s been difficult for him to travel, so he’s been going to London a lot on just business.”

That’s where we are at. He is coming over and he is here to support the club. He has been doing that. I have that communication with him all the time, the open channel is there, which is good.”
