Luton Town head coach Nathan Jones is leading candidate to get the job at Southampton . Talks ongoing.

Annis we did get in contact with Luton about Nathan Jones but as I mentioned before we were not prepared to pay the compensation they wanted, as his contract runs until the end of season 2025. Southampton it seems are quite prepared to pay the compensation!

Interesting that Bellamy interview when he say Luton is such a well-run club, so we had no chance of getting him with our current philosophy.
Wonder how the cultured Southampton fans welcome the rumour ?

If the composition is several millions as probable is anyone surprised didn't want to pay it? Maybe tan knows something that means he wouldn't sign him for 6mnths?

Huge gamble by the Saints if they do sign him? He seems to succeed at Luton but failed dismally at Stoke. Personally, I wouldn't want him at City, we are at least as big as Stoke!

He is part of a long list of celebrated names who failed at Stoke except for a certain Mr. Pulis and he would cause mayhem for the football purists.

It won’t happen.. those fans will be well fed up.. shows lack of ambition by Southampton

Most Saints fans interviewed were all for it, as they see his good work with youngsters and little money at Luton
Personally, I'm still not convinced he was for us but I guess we'll soon know and I wish him luck
That'll be two Welsh managers in the Premier League...

I feel he would be good for us but don’t think he is premier standard and Southampton are in the football snobbery ranks when it comes to good football so will see how he fares

Big difference between going to a team in the Championship fighting relegation to a Premier League team fighting relegation.
Hopefully it won't be like when he was at Stoke.

Good luck to him but don't think he will get another welcome back when/if it goes wrong .
Personally didn't want him here myself.

Jules, it's not his fault we did not want to pay compensation, as I have said earlier he would have loved to come to us. It is not like the footballers downing tools to get a move. Shame really

Neds referring to his time at WBA who was in relegation fight when he was sacked.

Methinks you have misunderstood my post, I meant him not getting ANOTHER welcome back at Luton !!

I don't like Jones style of football, it works well at Luton and he has done brilliantly there but it won't work at Southampton. If he goes there he will be sacked before season is out.
He would have been perfect for us a few years ago but would be ill suited now. Just because he is a Cardiff fan doesn't make him right for the job.

Without wishing to be respectful to the lad, I am amazed that a club of Southampton's status have set the bar so low, especially when you consider previous incumbents of the job.
A very odd choice in my opinion but good luck to him anyhow.
