Bit-part player now. Will be the same for Wales. Before today, he played 5 mins since September! He won't be match fit for World Cup, that's for sure..

Bit part player now be same for wales before today played 5 mins since sept!! Hecwont be match got for world cup thats for sure.

You have to give him his dues though. Is the man to stay calm for the big occasion.

They were 3-2 down and with only 10 men and in the 128th minute of a 120 min game.

He scores to bring them level and then clears a dangerous corner in his own box.

Talisman or match winner he is always there at the pointy end.

I think it was always the plan that he would only be used as mainly a sub up untill the world cup.

No denying that ... let's hope he can do it in world cup.

Saving himself for Saturday Tuesday weeks when he signs for us after the world cup! You heard it first here, I'm tracking a jet flying towards somewhere and his kids are definitely in Howells now.

I'm sorry but after the World Cup, he needs to be phased out of the squad. Anyone who watched the Poland game knows this, he spent more time sorting his hair out than doing anything useful with the football.

No doubt he'll start at the World Cup but he is simply not at the same level anymore and, as you say, his fitness levels are nowhere near where they need to be for top level football.

Ned, it's difficult to disagree with that overall. Surely, this World Cup will be his international swan-song (excuse the reference) along with certain others?

I think he/they deserve that and if Wales perform, talisman Gareth Bale will have a big part to play

Even as a non-international football 'fan', I wouldn't decry Bale and/or others their place on the biggest stage for 'services to Welsh football'

After that is another matter completely...

I just assumed he has been playing within himself for the last year. His whole career for the last few years has all been about playing in a World Cup.

He will have no care at all for his career post December and will throw himself into everything.

That said, probably get injures in the first half against USA and only get back fit for the final.
