Have we improved under Hudson?

Sat Nov 05, 2022 8:02 pm

If you look at the run of fixtures we’ve had under Hudson since Morison left:

Burnley 1-1
Blackburn 1-0 win
Wigan 3-1 win
Coventry 1-0 loss
Qpr 3-0 loss
Swansea 2-0 loss
Rotherham 1-0 win
Watford 2-1 loss
Sunderland 1-0 win

Out of those games we can genuinely say Coventry we were cheated out of a blatant goal which the officials have apologised for. Qpr we had a man sent off at 0-0 which even the red card was rescinded and Swansea our own fault for being stupid having someone sent off. Watford are just a better team and have many talented players a team who are above us in quality.

We’ve had 4 wins and a draw out of the rest of the games against some teams who people may think we should be beating. I don’t think the style of play has necessarily improved but I do believe we’ve learnt more how to grind out a win under Hudson. Even though the first half was one of the best this season and if we had a striker player even Robinson we’d probs be 2-0 going into half time. Tbf it’s not a bad record, Looking at Coventry we should have had a draw and tbf they are getting very decent results (even beat Watford away today). I think hull is another game we will win but may struggle against Sheffield united. If we could get 4 points from the next 6 I believe going into the World Cup break Hudson would have had a good return of points out of the games he’s managed.

It looks inevitable that he’s going to be given a contract so it’s definitely worth getting behind. No manager would come in and win every game. Mid table would be a good season this year let’s hope we can keep pushing up the table :ayatollah:

Yes certainly attacking wise although stats say otherwise its putting ball in net that's problem.. defensively doing well... I honestly think could have been unbeaten in those 3 games! as for Watford match stats identical ... I think be ok if Robinson can click again we'll certainly win games that are close top of mid table finish unless of course we string 3 wins together .. :D

yes, If think we are getting the balance right between unnecessary passing and aimless whacking it forward.

I think we are missing a few pieces of the jigsaw.

We want to play the way Morison wanted us to play. The problem is our players are not good enough for that.

Its all a question of surviving this season then finding those missing pieces.

Goals are our obvious problem. I thought we were very good in a very good game against Watford, certainly came away from that one not all doom and gloom.

The two red cards in back to back away games really ruined those as well, so he's had some back luck.

I think we’re finally looking a bit more dangerous in the final third, albeit at the expense of some comfort in our own third

Yeah agree with that. He has had some bad luck and decisions against him

i usually take whatever earnie says with a pinch of salt as i find most of what he says nonsense, but during the Swans game he said Hudson, would like to slowly implement his own brand, it is nothing like we've seen or its totally different to what Morisons was, which really confused me, as for the life of me, cannot imagine what sort of football is his philopsohy, if its not trying to pass it around, unless its a return to long ball

No consistency at all. If they were doing a proper hard working day job they would be sacked off on a zero hours contract.

No, I don't think so, and on the evidence so far we are going to loose a lot more games than we win,,,, and that's relegation form. The club needs experienced management, and quality players who can consistently perform. We have neither!
