MY VIEW / OPINION: A DESERVED EARLY LEAD BY THE BLUEBIRDS

Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:39 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

A DESERVED EARLY LEAD BY THE BLUEBIRDS / BUT SOME SLOPPY DEFENDING ON BOTH GOALS GAVE WATFORD THE 3PTS.

3pts dropped at home and still stuck just above the relegation zone, City now travel away to Sunderland this Saturday.

A very empty stadium tonight for the Bluebirds and a very slippery pitch for both sides.

My man of the match Philogene :thumbright: :bluebird:

Mark Harris started with strikers Watters and Etete on the bench.

Once again some good football by Cardiff, but they need some quality strikers, otherwise they will continue to play games like this and come away with nothing.

FIRST -HALF: Cardiff started really well, Cardiff City 1-0 Watford (Kipre 9) :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:
Goal! Kipre scored to put Cardiff into the lead and it's no less than they deserve. Excellent opening 10 minutes. Ralls floats a ball into the box and Kipre, unmarked, powers it home with his head.

Minutes later Kipre had to clear the ball of his own line :thumbright:

Watfords pressure paid of: Cardiff City 1-1 Watford (Sierralta 38)
What a sloppy goal Goal to concede . Sierralta heads in from the corner.

SECOND-Half: Cardiff started brightly again, but faded fast and became sloppy:
Cardiff City 1-2 Watford (Sarr 59)
Goal. Sarr heads in from the corner. It had been coming.

Cardiff did battle to the end, but not really threatening Watford

Cardiff City: Allsop; Romeo, Ng, Kipre, Nkounkou; Wintle, Rinomhota, Ralls; Philogene, Harris, O'Dowda.

Subs: Alnwick, Nelson, Sang, Sawyers, Ojo, Watters, Etete.

Nkounkou booked for a foul.

Cardiff had let Watford back in this game for the last 25mins it was all Watford

Goal. Sarr heads in from the corner. It had been coming.

68th min:

Harris off, Etete on. Rinomhota off, Sawyers on. O'Dowda off, Ojo on.

Wintle booked. Fouled Sarr on the breakaway.

91st min: Watters on for Romeo

Cardiff finished the game the stronger team, but it was just not enough

We battled hard tonight but so utterly predictable we would lose this at half time. We miss Robinson so much. A point was there for us tonight The lack of decent centre forward has cost us much more than just the Swsnsea game. Philogene was fantastic tonight though. We are in a relegation fight and slowly getting cut off. Its grim being a City fan at the moment and I am not surprised the stadium is empty. Fans are worn down by 18 months of pretty much constant defeat. On we go I guess.

Didn't expect anything from the game in truth even at 1-0 up i just knew we would go in our shells and defend after that there was only going to be one winner sadly. I even said the same to two of the boys at the time here we go again. You get what u pay for as they say but we go again on the weekend :ayatollah:

We battled but they were bigger, stronger, and more skillful.

Philogene is going to be fun to watch now something has clicked.

We could have been 2-0 and its a different game but we have nothing up top. Been saying it for weeks but O'Dowda isn't a wide forward, he is a wide midfielder and it shows when he played really well at full-back in a flat back 4. Issac Davies is a wide forward so lets hope he is fit this side of Christmas.

I 100%!agree and we have known we needed two good strikers for over 8months.

Annis it's a shame as we are not a bad side despite what some say.... we do play risky football at times but so do most teams! At least last night we got ball in the middle lot more even if quality at times was lacking.... I feel we will just hover bottom to middle of league when it could have been so much better... cant help feeling instead of getting in 16 or so players we could have settled for 14 and got in a really good forward with the excess wages from the two players not signed... that I believe was mistake by morison due to lack of experience in managing a team.. not helped of course by restrictions put on wages but always ways around a problem if its thought out.
