Neil Warnock has recounted a story about his time as Cardiff manager when Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's children wanted a photo with the Bluebirds boss after their match in the Premier League.

Man City hammered Cardiff 5-0, but Warnock's reputation clearly preceded him as the Spaniard's kids insisted they would not leave Cardiff City Stadium without a photograph with him.

“I think Pep Guardiola respects me," Warnock told the Happy Hour podcast. "I think when we played them, I went in his office after. I think he was a bit annoyed at the time because his daughters wanted a picture with me and not him!"

It was a heavy defeat for the Bluebirds, but Warnock believes this Man City side, under Guardiola, are the best footballing team he has ever seen.

“His team, at the moment, over the last two years, are the best team I have ever seen in my lifetime. I’ve never seen anything like it," Warnock added.

"I was at Cardiff City, and we played Man City and we were 0-0 after 25 minutes. We were playing really well. I was stood there on a lovely day, a typical football day with a little drizzle. And I’m thinking ‘Wow, we are doing well’.

"And we go in at half-time 3-0 down. I couldn’t even fault the lads, because they were just amazing. They’ve moved football on so much so I really hope they win the Champions League.”
