Affiliation with owners.

Sun Oct 30, 2022 10:23 pm

 When Sam was running the club he got involved with a lot of supporters and had the ultimate bond.

But yet he still changed our badge and that was accepted with very little protest.

As for Mr Tan who was welcomed wholeheartedly at the start with fans turning up with Malaysian flags etc.

Don't get me wrong what he has done with the rebranding etc was appalling and something I was not a fan of, also the badge etc is ridiculous with the wriggly worm.

But if some fans had had the same affiliation with Tan as they did with Sam, would the hatred still be as strong amongst us.

Just a genuine question and looking for opinions.?

I'm only asking the question as I had a personal realationship with Peter Ridsdale, via email and phone calls and also met him a few times personally. So when he was getting the abuse he was at the time I did not feel the full hatred that some fans did due to our relationship.

The badge was changed and designed by the Valley Rams ask Gwyn and Corky.
Sam thought he was doing what the fans wanted so you need to let the truth be said it was actually the Valley Rams idea and design etc.

Sam thought by doing a St David’s badge was what all Cardiff fans wanted.
I never liked it and told Sam the truth and never bought anything with it on, I had not seen Sam for a couple of months as My Father had died and was keeping myself to myself.

I’ve had a real great chat with Tan for nearly 4hrs and I got on with him really well, but everything he promised he went back on.
Met Dalman about 30 times and he is just like a mp.

Tan gave his word he would not change our identity so for me this where my dislike comes from and actually stripping us of our pride , identity and making us a laughing stock.

I knew the Riddler well had many meals with him at my house and sat in his office on many occasions.
I liked him until he lied about the golden ticket.

What I am noticing is because Tan is getting disliked more and more the anti Sam fans keep trying to bring Sam up who has nothing to do with the current crisis.
We are in today’s position of a bigger debt , crowds falling, low league position and divided because of the last 12 yrs and should be trying to sort out our future and discussing the issues of today more than ever.
Don’t forget all our court cases and what’s happening with Emiliano Sala.

Plus the total silence from the current board.

That's interesting to hear annis. I wasn't aware this was said too you, and now I understand why you dislike him so much. And get it.

My concern is tan going who replaces him. Current climate I don't see someone buying us who will bankrole us.

I don't think in current times many clubs get that affiliation with the clubs owners.

The Wrexham lads are doing well because of their fame and media knowhow, but there are very few positive cases. Football nowadays is so corporate, bland with accountants, analysts, and public relation department killing any spontaneity.

Sam couldn't happen again, it was the end of an era, IMO his vision was the downfall for many fans; the stadium !! Ninian Park was the end of that madness. It was primal, I am a law-abiding nice (model :)) citizen, but it brought the devil out in me. We were still behind the rest of the bigger championship clubs in terms of the modern world, but the CCS hit us with a large bang.

It coincided with the start of social media and a new type of fan. I would never have brought my daughter to NP. The tuts of disapproval would be heard all over the twitter-verse at some of Sams ideas, but we loved them.

I hope Sam doesn't come back because Sam should be a joyous part of our history, he was the defibrillator that kick-started our new lease of life. But it wouldn't be the same, the world has moved on and many would be disappointed.

Once again a anti Sam thread turned in to.

Yet the current Regime are the ones that are running our club down.

Well I did bring two of my daughters Ninian Park and felt safe

My second home

If I am honest I only started going through Sam, if he had not taken our club over I had never been before and the excitement I use to get coming down to see the city play and the ground bouncing, I have been hooked ever since, if fans were honest there was hardly any fans before Sams era at the club, so we should not moan.

One thing you all forgot weekly Sam met different fans from all over Wales.

In fact I also took Sam to 20 different venues from Port Talbot, Abergavenny , Bridgend, Porth, Pontypridd, all over abd Sam must of met 5,000-10,000 fans

As another poster said, where were our so called fans before Sam arrived?????

Because they Certainly were not attending matches and that is a pure fact.

We were lowly league 4 club before Sam came, it had taken 20 yrs to get us in to the Championship, Sam did it with in 3 yrs and crowds went up from 3,500 to near capacity 20,000, every season the crowds increased and Ninian Park had an unbelievable atmosphere.

Well mines to the name Cardiff City and I only want what’s best for my club, owners, managers and players come and go and we are Cardiff City the fans , the fans who still watch and turn up no matter how bad things become.

Not the Premiership glory fans

For me it’s good to know your owners and for me Bob Grogan, Rick Wright and Sam Hammam have been the best we could ever want and were there when we were shit.

We were dead before Hammam came along and Ninian Park came alive , some of my greatest tears following the City

Totally agree, there's no loyalty at any level of the game. Unfortunately money dictates, it's all about the £s but as fans, we must be loyal to our club and keep the faith. :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

For me this is about forgetting the past and working out who, out of those interested, is capable of taking us to the Premier League.

I am grateful to VT for keeping us afloat and the positive things he has done for the club. But is he prepared to fund us back to the Premier League football - Sadly I think not. We are in the bottom few of the 2nd tier. Kortrijk (his other club) is bottom of the Belgian League. I wont say there is a lack of investment as that would be unfair. He is keeping us afloat on a month by month basis. But I just dont think there is a willingness to spend on a structure to get us promoted.

Sam. I would love him back in charge. I believe he is someone who has the financial means to do it and more than that I believe we are the only club he supports.

Paul having sh is going back to the past and is not s good thing from a unity perspective... he may have done good things at city but he left us in trouble and other things that were not right.. if we are going to have new owners let's have completely new ones with no baggage from past.....

Love them or hate them history will place Sam and tan in the same category as the majority of ccfc owners and that's FAILURE to establish the club in the top division and lift a major trophy.who ever owned the club in the 1920s brought genuine success.Along with who ever owned the club in the 1950s the rest have to be applauded for keeping the club afloat .
