Tom Sang trains in midfield and at right-back every day
Tom Sang has revealed he trains both for a central midfield role and at right-back every day.
At the start of the calendar year, Sang went on loan to St Johnstone in Scotland, with then manager Steve Morison citing a disagreement between the two parties over where his best position was. Morison didn't see him as a wing-back, Sang thought that was where he could help the team the most.
Sang was left out of the pre-season trip to Edinburgh and the writing seemed to be on the wall. However, after a string of impressive pre-season displays in central midfield, he was brought back in from the cold.
His most recent displays for Cardiff have been at right back in place of the absent Mahlon Romeo and Perry Ng, however many believe he could aid the team in midfield, too. It's been quite the turnaround for him in the last few months, but he is desperate to grab his opportunity now.
"It was difficult, because it was more of a miscommunication in terms of enthusiasm to get the chance. I will play anywhere on the pitch. I really enjoy playing in midfield and I really enjoy playing right-back," Sang said of the so-called disagreement between him and Morison last season.
"I do bits of both every day. I played midfield in pre-season and feel like I did really well and feel I can add to the team in both positions. Energy on the ball and quality up the pitch is where I think I can add to the team.
"I take it week by week, when I get my opportunities, like at Swansea and QPR, I try to do as much as I can with it. Hopefully, with the opportunities that come in the future I can do the same."
