Your position, spoken to chairman, owner?

There are still conversations, definitely. But we know we have got to put that week behind us and learn from it. There are lots of decisions from that week. We had an apology from the referees following the Coventry game, which just came through on Thursday, saying ‘Sorry, we made a mistake, it was onside.’ That’s difficult to take.

Then we had a rescinded red card in the middle of the week. The whole context of the week has to be taken in, from the planning and stuff like that. It’s a game that’s at home and we focus on that.

Turning momentum around?

Go back to the context of the week. It’s about being open with the players for that, focusing on the good bits that we’ve done. There are definitely bits to improve on. We are looking forward to Rotherham at home in front of our fans.

It’s not about my future, it’s about the football club, the players and the fans. Getting the right results at the weekend.

Mark Hudson has revealed conversations are ongoing about his long-term future as manager of Cardiff City, but admits his team desperately need a result against Rotherham United at the weekend.

Hudson's tenure started with a draw and two victories, a string of results which boosted his side up to 10th, and all looked rosy. However, after what Hudson described as "a tough seven days", the club have doubled their league position and now sit 20th in the table.

Fans are rightly asking about the stability of the club and the appointment of a permanent manager. Indeed, as Danny Gabbidon said last week, instability is not conducive to a successful environment.

MARK HUDSON:

Hudson, though, says he is in dialogue with the club's hierarchy about his own position and hopes he gets the chance to continue on a longer-term basis.

“Those conversations are going on. We know where the week was in context, the results haven’t been good enough," interim boss Hudson said.

“We know where we are: we need a result, we need a reaction for us, for the fans, for the football club on Saturday. The conversations are ongoing and, obviously from my point of view, I want to be here as long as I can to help.”

It's all quiet on the Cardiff front regarding interviewing or even appointing a new manager from the outside, so it looks like it's Hudson's gig to lose.

It seems unlikely the Bluebirds will make much change before the World Cup break, which commences after Cardiff's game with Sheffield United on November 12, but Hudson knows his team needs a result heading into the Rotherham United game this weekend.

He added: “I think that’s the conversation but it’s down to us as a club, as a group, to show that reaction to a disappointing week, how we can learn and how we can build and stick together and grow.”

While on the surface three defeats on the spin looks a bad return, there have been mitigating circumstances.

Don't blame Hudson he cannot say anything until it is decided. The Board are the ones who should more open about it.
