MY VIEW:
ROTHERHAM OUR EQUALS :
( Sad to say really a small club and small town and they are doing better than us)
The thing that strikes me with Rotherham is that , like us , they have no player that stands out or is a ‘wow’ … “I wish we had him”.
They do have a leader in their captain Richard Wood … but he is now 37 and understandably in and out of the team.
One unusual thing is that they are a very compact team with a roster of 23 players to say ours (like most) at 29 . That was their way ….a clever way ….of keeping their budget down ….. as well as not having too many dissatisfied players who are not regularly in the squad.
They will probably play with a 3-1-4-2 formation …which is not a very common shape. The 1 that sits in front of the back 3 is vital for them - Daniel Barlaser.
In Washington they have a steady goal scorer and in Kelly they have a young very raw striker straight from the Irish League where he was a high scorer …..but who is still finding his feet at this level……and is in and out of the team.
The bookies have us as hot favorites to win at 1:1 to their 3:1 ….. but personally I see it as an even match.
Even though we are not a high scoring side ….. Rotherham are always liable to concede ….. but also they score in equal measure.
My prediction is that this will be a low scoring game ….and hope that the bookies are right ….as more often than not they are.
Lee Peltier who plays as one of their 3 C1/2 but is now 35 ….. and still a steady Eddy . He is in and out of the team. I always liked him because he keeps his head low and gets on with his job .
