Cardiff City's under-21s secured a comfortable 4-1 win over League 2 Colchester United at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Jak Alnwick, Vontae Campbell, Joel Bagan, Gavin Whyte, Kion Etete, Max Watters, Jaden Philogene all featured in a strong line-up, and the hosts seldom looked troubled on a highly comfortable afternoon.
Etete, who could well be first in contention in light of Callum Robinson's suspension, did his chances no harm by putting his side in front with a looped finish after just nine minutes.
Something for Mark Hudson, watching on from the stands, to think about.
Whyte then doubled the lead five minutes before the interval, firing home at the near-post following a low Watters cross, before Philogene swept home with a goal of his own just moments later.
Donnel headed home to pull one back for the visitors, but Ollie Tanner's fine finish 15 minutes from time restored the three-goal lead.
