A Win:Cardiff Team Today: Watters, Etete , Philogene, Whyte,

Tue Oct 25, 2022 12:15 pm

City’s first team players controlled the first half and went in comfortably 3-0.
Second - half was even Stevens eventually City winning 4-1

A good run out for many players to keep them fit.

No one really stood out, but a good 90 minutes.

A strong Cardiff U21’s side with league 2 Colchester U21’S whose 1st team are 91st in the football league.

U21 team are 2nd bottom of their league as well.

Perfect for Watters and Etete .

With a few players well over 21 yrs old:

Jak Alnwick, Watters, Etete , Philogene, Whyte, Bagan , Tanner, Campbell etc and Colwill and Crole on the bench

CARDIFF CITY U21’S 4 COLCHESTER U21’S 1
H-T 3-0

Etete , Whyte and Philogene scored first half.
Tanner scored second-half.

Well they are both not good enough for the Championship in my view:

But if they want to stay professional footballers they have to well against teams like Colchester, even County can beat them abd they are dire at the moment.

And the first team and U21 team are 2nd bottom of their leagues.

Don't think it'll be 5 nil. But certainly a dominant display should be expected. After the first teams woes I'd say at least 5 of them could play their way in to contention.

Well we’ve got Crole on the bench as well and if he was starting he would be looking for a hatrick.

We are suppose to have one of the best U21 teams around , so you have to be looking at hammering teams like Colchester.

Would love it to be 8 nil.

But we've all watched u21 football. The intensity isn't there. Although... Nothing less than 3 nil boys. Haha

Watching it live:

A terrific build up by Cardiff, but Tanner with all the time in the world shot the ball as though he was going to score at a rugby game. It’s Tanners final ball that’s awful every time.

Cardiff City's under-21s secured a comfortable 4-1 win over League 2 Colchester United at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Jak Alnwick, Vontae Campbell, Joel Bagan, Gavin Whyte, Kion Etete, Max Watters, Jaden Philogene all featured in a strong line-up, and the hosts seldom looked troubled on a highly comfortable afternoon.

Etete, who could well be first in contention in light of Callum Robinson's suspension, did his chances no harm by putting his side in front with a looped finish after just nine minutes.

Something for Mark Hudson, watching on from the stands, to think about.

Whyte then doubled the lead five minutes before the interval, firing home at the near-post following a low Watters cross, before Philogene swept home with a goal of his own just moments later.

Donnel headed home to pull one back for the visitors, but Ollie Tanner's fine finish 15 minutes from time restored the three-goal lead.
