That means ref was wrong to send him off and probably wrong to give penalty.... because Simpson did not play the ball or attempt to do so that is red card under the rules... only way not red card is if panel think pen decision is wrong just our luck.

OK. No foul no penalty. Lost the match had to play 72 mins with 10 men away to a top team. SO WHAT DID THE CLOWN OF THE REFEREE GET having made a right cock up sent down to referee school boy football I hope or just a slap on the wrist.

That clown cost us a penalty and the match as it was 0v0 at the time. He should apologise and be fined. I think of all our supporters who travelled up at great cost and had to accept that decision. And as for the ref v Coventry. He disallowed our goal because their defender was not in control of the ball. What the hell does that mean exactly?

It meant that defender didn't try to play ball in his view? That means offside could be given ..... but everyone except ref saw him attempt to kick ball but it hit him on thigh and went to Robinson do playing him onside.

One of the most frustrating things in football. Of course we’ll never know what would have happened with 11 but the red card and penalty cost us 3 points and now they’ve admitted it was a mistake what benefit do we get? Joke of a ref should be suspended and then demoted. Even then we get nothing.

It is frustrating but that’s the game, sometimes things go for you and sometimes they go against you.
Swings and roundabouts, take the rough with the smooth or moan about it, push for VAR in the lower leagues and watch the ticket prices go up and the game end up stop/start like Rugby.
The Referee? What do you want him to do, he has to make a decision in real time, sometimes they get it right sometimes they get it wrong, it doesn’t help us but it won’t go by the wayside the fella will get pulled up on it by his assessor and if he does the same mistakes again he’ll get pulled down.
What we can’t do is go in for the kill, no ref, no game, simple as that.
The problem is what would make it better would be if the refs were able to come out and explain themselves after a game but you can guarantee that the second that happens clubs will be going to the the CAS to get games replayed and all sorts.
That’s how fucked up Football is now with all the money involved, we can’t have it both ways.

The frustrating part is what decision did he get wrong the penalty or sending off? Would help everyone if an explanation was given.... to me it smacks of he got penalty decision wrong and to make up for it they've rescinded red card as by letter of the law he was right to send him off once penalty given so no need to rescind card... agree about coming out yo explain decisions simply because people will argue he was wrong just like people say var interpretation of incident is wrong. Even though last two games we've had wrong decisions made human error is the cause and that is something we cannot irradicate no matter what we do to alleviate it.

David louis had his red card rescinded against fulham why? Because mitrovic cheated by appearing to be head butted and fell in total agony..... villa went on to concede 2 more goals after incident and jerrad is sacked. Personally mitrovic should be banned because obviously he was not head butted as he made out... deliberately getting fellow professional sent off his a disgrace in that way .

Always hear it will even out over the season but i've been waiting years for the shit decisions to even themselves out. In my mind they never seem too. And there's always the potential they can cost us big time. Look at the Chelsea game in prem season.
Not saying refs are against us, just no matter what league they make big mistakes and we seem to get more than our fair share.

Great post.
As frustrating as it is the referees usually get it right.

All well and good it’s been rescinded but the damage has been done

That's one of the reasons that players like Mitrovic do these sort of things, there is no punishment after the fact for blatantly cheating, maybe the red card should be passed to the cheating player and he suffers the consequences once found out.
