MY VIEW: CARDIFF HAD THEIR BACKS TO THE WALL FOR THE MAJORIT

Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:04 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

CARDIFF HAD THEIR BACKS TO THE WALL FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME BUT FOUGHT FOR 90 MINS AND CAME AWAY WITH 3 GREAT AWAY POINTS & ACTUALLY SCORED 3 GOALS :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

In the end though Cardiff could of won by more :bluebird: :bluebird:

Back to back wins :bluebird: :bluebird:

Best away win for a long long time :bluebird: :bluebird:

Robinson, Ojo & Wintle secured the points :bluebird: :bluebird:

Mark Hudson 3 games: 2 wins & 1 draw :bluebird:

Apparently has the managers job until Xmas and will prob be kept until the end of the season, the same pattern continues.
To be fair Hudson deserves the chance :thumbright: :bluebird:

3 very good away points.

Mark Harris started but went off injured in the 2nd-half.

Positives:

Good football, scored goals and defended well for the majority of the game :bluebird: :bluebird:

FIRST-HALF: What a start by Cardiff, Callum Robinson scored with in 7 mins :bluebird: :bluebird:

City got the early goal and had to have their backs to the wall for most of the half, defended well and thankfully Wigans finishing awful :thumbright: :bluebird:

SECOND-HALF: City defended well then broke in the 65th min with Ojo scoring City's 2nd goal 0-2 :bluebird: :bluebird:

76th min: Mark Harris injured  Harris off, Etete on.Cardiff drifted off GOAL! Wigan Athletic 1-2 Cardiff City (Wyke 83)
Wyke scores. Heads home from a cross.

Cardiff City: Allsop; Ng, Kipre, Simpson, Nkounkou; Wintle, Ralls, Rinomhota; O'Dowda, Harris, Robinson.

Subs: Alnwick, Etete, Ojo, Sang, Nelson, Sawyers, Philogene.

7mins: GOAL! Wigan Athletic 0-1 Cardiff City (Robinson 7) :bluebird: :bluebird:

What a lovely Cardiff goal! Nkounkou does brilliantly to fashion the chance before sliding in an inch-perfect pass to Robinson. Robinson with a first-time effort and he bangs it past the onrushing Amos.

Should of been level. That's a bad miss from Wyke. Magennis is set clear down the wing and hits a first-time cross, all Wyke has to do is tap home, but it's a clean-air shot! All happening here.

Joe Bennett was booked for a challenge on Robinson.

City got the early goal and had to have their backs to the wall for most of the half, defended well and thankfully Wigans finishing awful

H-T 0-1 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Joe Ralls booked. Goes through the back of Power.

65th min: GOAL! Wigan Athletic 0-2 Cardiff City (Ojo 65)
GOAL! OJOOOOO.

Once again it's Nkounkou magic that creates it. He picks it up from inside his own half and skins three players before feeding O'Dowda, who hits a pinpoint cross to Ojo, who bundles home. Devastating counter. :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Massive chance for Wigan!

McClean is found with a cross but belts it over the bar from close range.

76th min: Mark Harris injured

Ralls off, Sawyers on.

Harris off, Etete on.

GOAL! Wigan Athletic 1-2 Cardiff City (Wyke 83)
Wyke scores. Heads home from a cross.

85th min; Nelson on for O'Dowda.

GOAL! Wigan Athletic 1-3 Cardiff City (Wintle 90+1)
GOAL! Free-kick from Wintleeeee. :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Post!

Ojo is clean through on goal. He only has the keeper to beat - but he hits the post and it's wide.

Another good win, back to back wins.

Wigan were awful going forward.

Big chance for us to build on these results with bottom of the league Coventry coming to CCS next week.

Our counter attacking was excellent today.

backs to the wall? We were much better than Wigan, some of our attacking play was excellent at times, eveytime we turned over the ball we attack at pace they couldnt live with that ,should of been won by much more ,Wigan really didn't offer much in the final 1/3rd ,3 great matches for Hudson hes definitely claiming the job for himself

We are an absolute joy to watch at the moment and our counter attacking today was excellent. As you say, could have easily been 4-5.
What’s particularly pleasing for me is that all our players 1-11 are sooo comfortable on the ball and seem to have a licence to go forward. Can’t wait til Saturday.

Great win today wouldn't have cared less if we had 3 shots on goal and got the same result by defending for 90 mins :bluescarf:

Thought we played really well on the break vs Wigan back 3 :bluebird:

We'll gents, it would appear we may have clicked under Huds for a few reasons:

1.Tactics and formations have been tweaked.
2. Know his best starting 11.
3. He's a better man manager than SM.
4. He knows the club.

Pleasws how we've improved since he's taken over and a jack mate was also saying that he'll also have the squad up for the derby as they remembering him singing YJB's down the bay when we got promoted. And I think he's right.

Well yes it does look that way but we have seen this all before. Lets hope this time it lasts.

The ball is going forward quicker, with more intent, more akin to Dave Jones than pass for pass sake

I'm always conservative and realistic when it comes to giving an opinion but the reason I say it is because I didn't think we were far off with SM, but MH seems to have made the improvements that many were looking for by addressing some fundamentals that SM seemed to struggle with. Hopefully it won't come back and bite me on the arse but feel free to give me pelters if it does.

Disagree we had our back to the wall, a pretty even game. Second half performance was brilliant, NG, Wintle and O'Dowda were quality.

Hardly backs against the wall???

I watched it with the Wigan commentary on and even they said that Wigan are struggling to cope with the Cardiff counter attacking

A bit more composure and it would have been 5

I watched it too and they were very complimentary of us, saying when we get the ball we hardly ever give it away and we are neat and tidy .

As someone who was there we absolutely dominated

The only worry was when they scored we panicked , we need to learn not to panic with the lead

We need to practise running at the opposing keeper from the half way line as we could of scored another 2

But the team were superb , 2 strikers is the answer

Backs to the wall?! That was (nearly) as comfortable as wins come!

Real joy to watch. Should've won by a lot more. Absolutely the best team.

The win was very comfortable in the end, but when we were one nil up Wigan missed two sitters and controlled the game for long periods, but thankfully we were very solid and stopped them from creating much.

Annis, I watched extended highlights last night and I can see where you are coming from

Overall though, it looked like a deserved win for the Bluebirds that might have been by more. We appear more confident and clinical under Mark Hudson and the early signs for him are good

A very good win and 7 from 9 is not to be scoffed at... :ayatollah:
