just bought my Peter Whittingham testimonial tickets, can’t believe they haven’t sold out the 4 blocks that are currently on sale.
Come on Cardiff fans, get your tickets, Peter deserves a big big crowd..
Fri Oct 07, 2022 3:37 pm
It is too early, most people will buy in the 2 weeks before.
Fri Oct 07, 2022 4:43 pm
Midweek on a school day
People away because of the World Cup
Uncertainty over rail strikes
..Will all be factors affecting people buying tickets this early.
What will boost sales are the announcements of explayers making an appearance.

Dave Jones should manage the Cardiff side

Trying to buy mine now and having objective errors on the website

doesn’t help people when the system doesn’t want to play ball
Fri Oct 07, 2022 5:18 pm
This game should have been in July we would have pulled in bigger crowd especially on Saturday
Fri Oct 07, 2022 6:40 pm
Totally agree with the OP. Unfortunately Cardiff are traditionally rubbish at supporting any kind of testimonial game. Never known a set of fans to come up with as many excuses not to give support.

Apparently his no7 shirt is hanged up on a peg at every game.... can see stand named after him on day of match.
Fri Oct 07, 2022 8:47 pm
We got our tickets weeks ago. Don't care who is playing or what night it is. Just get down there to show your respect to a City great.

I think be lucky to get 4900. Sorry but we just aren’t a club that gets into this type of thing. We could have chopra and bothroyd playing but little interest

My heart sank when the game was announced as I know our support for such games is embarrassing and I’d rather we didn’t bother. We should be getting 30k, probably end up around 6k. Shame on all of you who don’t make the effort.

he was one of our greatest players.. deserves better from our fans
tickets are priced so cheap.. if you have problems with website our ticket office will sort.. they did for me.
not ideal on a wednesday night , but there it is.. please make an effort ..
let’s show that singing his name does really mean that we loved him and it’s not just a gesture.

Some fans think we are a much bigger club than what we actually are.
Big clubs would have this game sold out.

Agree poor timing on club part especially with some of the areas people coming from in midweek etc

The organization has been shocking. No organization has gone into it. They just arranged a friendly and branded it a memorial match.
Had they put some thought and effort in, the game would be on a Saturday during the summertime, consisting of two teams of players who played with Whitts.
This is the outcome you get when the club and fans are miles apart with little discourse.

Timing is stuck really - next summer the Villa may not be available, who knows…as usual, plenty slagging the club off, damned if the do and damned if they don’t.
Im taking the old man and we’re in hospitality- £50 each for a table of 10.
PW7 the most skilful player I’ve ever seen at the City, so many fabulous memories.

7pm ko .... why do people think just one club made this decision? I always thought two clubs play in a game so to suggest its poor by city are leaving out villa who have probably bigger say in the timing of match than city.

Cos it's easier to just slag our club off Allen.

I know but do these people actually think before posting? At end day I bet villa had more of a say than city did as to date day for this game
.. its funny though club got slagged off for not arranging game now get same when they do...

I can only echo what has mostly been said here. I will be going but what should be a fun day to remember Whitts seems more shoe horned in for the sake of it. It could and should have been done in the summer or on one of the home international breaks as we never play on a Saturday anyway and most fans miss some football to watch on a Saturday. It could have been focused as a family fun day type event and had the ex- Cardiff/Villa players and teammates from his other clubs too.
Like I said I will be there but this will no doubt be an event that is poorly attended and we all look back and say it should have been done differently (and by that I mean properly).

Can’t agree more. Should have been a fun type of game like a Whitt’s 11 of players he played with maybe get Jones managing and opposition whoever. People would love to see some old heads like thommohawk, mcnaughton, roger johnson. I bet the club hasn’t even had foresight so invite the old players
Thu Oct 13, 2022 10:32 pm
Our club has given months worth of notice of when the game has been arranged for, and with cheap ticket pricing too. For the vast majority who don't attend it is because they can't be arsed. Can't wait to go and pay my respects to one of our greatest players

Beside the great Whittingham’s memorial match, the City also deserve a good crowd tomorrow versus Coventry.
Fri Oct 14, 2022 7:59 pm
My life has been enhanced by Peter Whittingham and I'm sure most City fans would agree. Stil terribly upset at his passing. I will get a ticket but can't make the game as I'll be in Qatar hopefully looking for somewhere to extend my stay rather than trying to get a flight home. Little did I know walking up to St Mary's in 2007 that I'd be watching 2 players Whitts and Bale that would give me so much enjoyment. Whitts scored a cracker that night too.
