Etete

Following my post yesterday on injuries. What about Etete ? He was supposed to be fit by now. These are young healthy men they shouldn’t be missing these amount of games. Is he another ‘on the grass now’? Can you imagine Brian Clough’ stance :bluescarf:

Well according to Steve Morison it was 2 wks max and that was 6 weeks ago when he called a fan a liar for saying it was going to be a couple of months.

So ???

Absolutely.

Why is it that players nowadays seem to take so long to recover from injuries? Is it because the injuries are more severe than in the past? Are they different types of injury perhaps sustained by the speed of the game, the equipment used or the bettr playing surfaces?

Is it because players are allowed more time to fully recover from injuries before returning to full training?

One would perhaps have thought that with the advances in medical knowledge and the advanced treatment of injuries that players should be able to return to action sooner rather than taking as long as they often do?

Brian Clough would make Morison look soft but the game has moved on since his day. Most of the injuries you hear of today weren't around in Cloughies day or not in todays numbers.A lot of it is due to the surfaces they play on and the fact that a modern lightweight boot has hardly any protection to feet. You may have noticed the Bosnian womans player getting her studs caught in our modern grass last night. This kinda thing happens all the time and if your unfortunate enough to do this then you can expect a long time out.You can't judge todays injuries on what used to happen 40 yrs ago.

You can’t compare injuries now to 40, 50 years ago.

Tommy Smith for example ended up being hardly able to walk. Replacement knees, hips etc.

Players back then had bad injuries but were being given injections in their knees, ankles just to get them on the pitch.
Although of course the summers were warmer and the grass was greener

It is a bit frustrating on Etete as it would be quite handy to have a “big man” option upfront whether that’s to start games or come on as a sub.

I’m sure Robinson would enjoy playing alongside him.

He’s not the finished article but he was well thought of at Spurs and they didn’t exactly give him away. If he gets fit he could be add something that could make the difference.

One missed chance against Brum doesn’t make him a failure. How many chances have we given Watters and there are still people on here that want us to hang on to him !!

The point I’m trying to make is that so many are injured and when they are supposed to be back they still are not for weeks and weeks. Sometimes in life you have to toughen up. Too many medics behind the scenes getting involved. If you have serious injuries like cruciate for Morrison and Collins fair enough. Cedric had bumps against Burnley and had to come off but he was back for Blackburn. It’s the AMOUNT that concerns me. For some players little or no game time is played and before you know it half the season has gone.

Managers are guided by very expensive sport scientists that the club employs... players cant just say I'm fit to play they've got to go through the sports science bods only then can he be deemed fit to play if they say he can of course......
