:bluebird: :bluebird: “ MARK HUDSON UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS TODAY “ :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Mark Hudson will take charge of his 2nd game for Cardiff after his 1-1 draw at home to Burnley.

Mark Hudson:

"I’ve been given the go-ahead to go and bring another coach in and that needs to be right.”

'No major injury concerns'

Are there any injury worries after Saturday?

"No. We have been through a recovery protocol yesterday. We had a day with the players to see who has got the niggles. Not too many major concerns, just what you’d expect."

Mark Hudson

What's the latest with Isaak Davies?

"He is now out of his brace and moving forward, he has got to go through the processes he’s got. He is a great kid. It’s a shame because I’d love to have him on the grass. I don’t want to put any pressure on him. That’s where he is at the moment."

MARK HUDSON:

Hudson on Bluebirds job

Do you want this job full-time?

"I am going to focus purely on game to game and I’ve told the team that. Long-term is not something I’m looking at, because the games are coming so thick and fast.

"I’ve been given the go-ahead to go and bring another coach in and that needs to be right.

"As in the team, we are focused purely on Blackburn and then we will go to Wigan."

Does it bother you that other names keep cropping up for the job?

"I haven’t seen any names, I haven’t looked at any of it. I am too busy!"

How do you steer the focus inwards with players?

"I’m not hoping they are focused, I know they are fully focused. We were in yesterday focusing on what we did well and what we can do better. They are fully focused on the job in hand."

Mark Hudson

Hudson 'gutted' for Chris Wilder

Chris Wilder has just been sacked by Middlesbrough, what's your reaction to that?

"Wow. If I’m honest, when you retire and go into coaching you are fully aware of how tough an environment it is.

"There are not many managers who stay at one club for many years. You’ve got to do as well as you can, stick to your principles and standards and what will be will be. I’m gutted for Chris to lose his job.

"Bruno Lage went [from Wolves] yesterday as well. It’s volatile, we know that. Anyone who comes into it is fully aware of that situation."

Ebou Adams latest

What about Ebou Adams' injury?

"It’s so frustrating doing that after coming into a new club. He is someone we will welcome with open arms when we can get him back. At the moment he is not there around the playing squad. He is building back up to getting on the grass. He is still a good character around the building."

Cedric Kipre latest

Is Cedric Kipre's problem a serious one?

"He got a whack in the hip and got landed on. Any time you are up against Ashley Barnes you’ll get that. He’s a bit tender but he’s a big boy, I’m sure he’ll be alright."

'Good focus'

Is it good to have so many games so quickly?

"We have had the weeks leading up to internationals, some players going off and being in different places. But now we have good focus. We have had time to debrief the game. It is busy, but that is the Championship for you."

Bringing in new coach won't be rushed

Is there any movement on bringing coaches in?

"I’ve got a couple of ideas. It’s just making sure they fit the football club, the staff and us. It’s not something that’s going to be rushed. I’m not going to give you any names!"

Craig Bellamy delivers emphatic response to Cardiff City manager links as he reveals three candidates club can 'forget about'

Sunday 2nd October 2022

If Vincent Tan offered you the job as manager of Cardiff City: “NO”

Craig Bellamy has insisted he has no desire to leave Burnley to go into management anywhere after being quizzed on whether he would take the vacant manager's post at Cardiff City.

CRAIG BELLAMY:

The more I've looked at it, not just Cardiff, I'm not interested in being a manager," he said.

When asked if he would take it if Vincent Tan phoned him up to offer him the job, he responded: "No. I like being out on the pitch every day.”

“Being a manager sometimes doesn't give you that. You have to deal with the board level. I've seen what Vinny (Kompany) has done and he can multi-task really well, he's not like most people. His patience and managing different situations, putting a puzzle together.”

"I like my role and I like that role. I feel I'm more use to him in that role. When I see how good he is, I don't feel like I could get to where he is. I am my own man, I've always been my own man, I argue all the time about stuff, I like that. It'll improve me. I improve every day. All I search for is to improve every day.“

"[Burnley] have brought in 15 and it's going to take us time. I've watched Cardiff a lot this year. We have played teams they have played already. I've caught a lot of Cardiff's games and they are not far away.”

He went on to say that, with Cardiff's recent record of letting managers go, perhaps we should not be surprised that Morison was relieved of his duties.

Bellamy believes that might be off-putting to some potential managers. He suggests the problem with letting so many managers leave in such a short space of time lends itself to styles and philosophies constantly changing and that lack of continuity makes bringing through youngsters far more difficult.

However, the Clarets assistant ruled out a few candidates who have featured fairly prominently at the top of the bookmakers' odds lists.

"There are managers out there who will take it. They will be getting phone calls from them. It's a good club, why wouldn't you want to take Cardiff?" Bellamy said.

"But, it's the type of managers. Your Scott Parkers, you can forget about them, they are different people and think differently about the game. Sean Dyche, forget about him and Nathan Jones is happy where he is at Luton.

Hudson backs Robinson's goal-scoring ability

How important is it for Callum Robinson to get off the mark?

"Once you’ve got one they should come thick and fast after that. On the back of missing the penalty, after the international break, to score last minute, it’s a boost. I don’t have any hesitation he will find the back of the net regularly.

"But we have to share the goals and the responsibility around the team.

"Any striker getting a first goal for a team is important. He worked his socks off at the weekend. He worked for 90 minutes and got his goal."

Blackburn 'a different test'

What did you make of Saturday, and what's to come versus Blackburn?

"We came in and debriefed the game. Blackburn is a totally different side, play a different way. They are pushing around the top five in the table, they have done well this season. It’s another test and a different test.

"We have a few bits to go through today and after training.

"They seem to give the ball up a little and counter. But that’s changed a bit over a period of time, the more confident and together they’ve been. It’s still early in the season. We know what we are going to face.

"But at home, in front of our fans, something to be excited about."

Did you enjoy Saturday?

"Just a bit, yeah! I enjoyed every minute of it. The build-up, the game and I was proud of how they played. They were together and connected in everything they did. They fought right until the end and then got the goal late.

"I would have liked to have had a goal before that. But for a team to keep going until the last minute is something to be proud of."

Colwill and Philogene latest:

"Rubin has a knock. We are just waiting on a timescale for that at the minute, which is unfortunate timing. I don’t think it’s too bad which is good news. As soon as we get a timescale I’ll get you an update.

"Jaden is back around the squad, another player back in which is good."

What is Colwill's injury?

"He was on the grass with us and he had a fall, like a slip, but we will give you an update when we get the timescale with that. It’s not going to be too long-term. We are still waiting on results to come back."

Should Wales be worried about Colwill's lack of minutes?

"I don’t think they should be worried. We aren’t worried in that respect. We know, club and country, where he is at.

"I said before he has had a huge growth spurt which we are aware of. We are working with both physios and between the both of us we hope to get him on the grass. We don’t want him to break down. As soon as he is on the grass and we can keep him on it it will be better for him.

"I’ll give you an update as soon as we’ve got it. He’s not on the grass at the moment. We want him on the grass as quick as we can. We don’t want to rush him.

"It’s a great time for him. It’s a big focus, everyone in Wales is focused on him. We want him on the grass and impacting our team and we are looking forward to that."

Kion Etete 'not too far away'

What's the timeframe looking like with Kion Etete?

"Yeah he has missed a bit, unfortunately for him. He had quite a decent injury to the ankle. We are getting him on the grass and then he has to do something specific for him. He’ll be a good addition to the squad and he’s not too far away."

Bluebirds goalkeeper Ryan Allsop believes there is more to come from this squad and accepts players need to be better on the ball if they are to improve in the attacking areas of the pitch.

Cardiff showed fight and a unity to come back to earn a draw against one of the league favourites, Burnley, thanks to Callum Robinson's goal, and Allsop knows City can get better moving forward.

“It was a really tough point," Allsop said. "I think that they’re a really good team, as we saw today and previously from the homework we’d done on them.

“We were a bit disappointed to go behind in the first place, to be honest. In terms of character and fight from the lads, it was unbelievable to come back and get a point. It was hard earned.

“They’re a team that likes the ball. It’s something that we’ve tried to do this season as well. I think sometimes that we needed to be a bit better on the ball, to get control of the game. But in terms of spirit our togetherness showed in abundance today, to get a draw against arguably one of the best teams in the league.

“It's difficult. A lot of new faces in the building and people getting to know one another. The bonding we did at Edinburgh, we did one last week as well. We have done things to let the lads get to know each other on a personal level. There's a lot more to come from this group."

Talks with Vincent Tan

Have you spoken to Vincent Tan?

"Yeah I spoke to the owner. Full focus on the next game. It was a brief conversation to check in on the game. Then go through the next game, what we are going to do, then focus on Blackburn."

Is he happy?

"It was a good point, everyone knew that against a really good team. That is where we are at. We know we have a tough test Tuesday night. We need to be as compact as possible."

Jon Dahl Tomasson:

"It’s an interesting game going away to Cardiff. They were normally a little direct, but they are trying to play a little bit more under their caretaker manager.

"It always starts with a philosophy and ambition at a club. You always have to have the vision and follow it. If you do that and get the right people in, you can make the right choices.

"We’ve played Stoke, who had no manager, now we have Cardiff, and Rotherham have the same thing, who we face at the weekend. You need people at the top who are cool, who can control their feelings, who can see the bigger pictures and can make the right choices."
