MY VIEW:

Burnley - Tough but Winnable:

Let me start by saying that the most special thing about Burnley is that they are managed by Vincent Kompany with (our) Craig Bellamy as assistant.

Personally I always rated Kompany as one of the best C1/2s of his generation ….a true football legend. Bellamy needs no introduction.

Between them you would know what type of team to expect.

A very good footballing side , who are extremely well organized and who play as one unit ….. with each knowing his job. They are super fit and athletic. However , they are vulnerable at set pieces.

They are not a particularly tall team …… however alas ….. set pieces is not our forte’ this season.

Oh for a Warnock or a McCarthy team for only this game.

Their strongest point is their center of mid-field , where they have players who know how to win a ball and then execute a good pass .

Their central midfielder and captain Jack Cork (the son of Alan Cork our ex manager) is an intelligent footballer who reads the game well.

I fancy Vitinhoe (Brazilian) who is a really good and tricky footballer who Kompany sometimes plays as a full back but mainly as a winger……. Either way he will attack and cause havoc. Watch out for him.

Reading these notes it appears that I am giving the impression that they are too good for us ….. well ….. this is not the case…… they are beatable .

In a nutshell - they definitely have a better management team than us .

I expect them to have good tactics , read the game well and change things during the game if they have to . Other than that they are - if I may put it this way - the same as us …… except slightly better in every department.

If we rise to the occasion - work really hard - and concentrate for 90 minutes …… we can beat them.

I believe that we will play out of our skins (because it is Burnley and because we have a new manager) .

And with the support that us fans will provide …..we can do it .

Good article Annis. Yes, we can beat them if we play to our strengths.

High press like norwich and brum game and confidence in what we are doing of course we can
A lot is all in the head and having a manager the likes of old brian clough making them play above and beyond
the difference with club football to playing for country is that most of our players are not from cardiff or wales and are not playing for there home city /country.
Having said that
How many cup finals over the years have gone to the weaker team on paper.

Burnley are not one of the top sides in this league. I can see them fading as the season goes on.

They'll have a lot of draws this season and that's how I see this match going.

Can't be there unfortunately due to train strikes but hopefully we can get a good crowd to support the team.

Disagree Burnley are a top side and if anything will get better with Kompany and Bellamy in charge. They’ve made brilliant signings

Can only go by when I've seen them on Sky this season and from highlights. Based on that, they've looked average compared to four or five other teams.

Like I said, can see them drawing a lot of games this season.

I tend to agree and think Burnley even tho have not set worlds on fire yet this season. Will be up there with top 4 come tail end

Who said they are not a good side, just said they are winnable??

I said they are “A very good footballing side.”

I’ve said they will be tough.

They have been beaten and drawn many games.

It was in response to Worcester Annis. I think he has underestimated their ability on this occasion although usually his opinion is good
