MY VIEW:

At least 10 players on big money contracts were out of contract anyway, so they were going anyway, NO matter who was the manager.
As to players brought in, some good ones, but we will see how they all do under new management??

As to our younger players you never brought them on better, in fact for me you nearly destroyed them and how many ever started games??

For me your attitude was awful and very disrespectful.

Always blaming others when results never went our way, bringing players down in the media.

Always tinkering with the team, no consistency.

Results and league table don’t lie, your words and you can see below.

STEVE MORISON:

“ I can definitely say I left the club in a better place."

"Changing styles, lowering age groups, lowering wage bills. Personally I thought we were on that path. There were very close games we lost, we could have taken points out of.”

"Games we drew that we could have won. I leave thinking we're five off of the play-offs, we're a penalty goal away from possibly going on to beat Huddersfield or drawing the game and if someone had said to me at the start of the week that you'd go to Middlesbrough and Huddersfield and take four points, for example, you'd have snapped their hands off.”

"I leave, gutted to lose my job, no-one likes to have that tag of being sacked over their head, but the reaction from it from myself has given me a lot of confidence, it's been one hell of a job, I can definitely say I left the club in a better place."

"It's not only 17 players we had in, it was the amount that went out, the characters that went out, the amount of league games that had left. Initially we had settled on 15, the West Brom game we arguably lose our best player of the start of the season who had been on fire in Jamilu Collins, so we had to replace him quickly which we did.

"And then we'd been looking for a striker all summer then we got one the day before the deadline, then unfortunately I only had a week to work with the player.“

"I feel like the club is in a better place and as a marker I suppose that's definitely a better place to be than leaving the club in a worse state."

So what next for the former Millwall man?

A swift return to management beckons, he says.

"Just learn, reflect on anything I could have done better," he said about the immediate future. "100 per cent (a return to management), I can't wait, you enjoy your time when you are doing it, as soon as it goes away you have a couple of days to get over it but I am a very focused and purposeful individual and the next challenge now, I think I've shown I've done a hell of a lot in short space of time, I'll definitely be a better manager for it."

In other words we are back in the same position as we were in when Ole was sacked.
There's no stability at this club.
Hudson /or a. n. Other might keep us, have a bad start next season and they'll be gone.
We've no forwards and no forward planning.

Kevin Davies:

He did bring in good players and 10 games is not long enough, this was a building program and he wasn’t given long enough, I saw some good football and slick passing on times. However Morrison made mistakes, he was indecisive and inconsistent with his team selection and decisions, he never stuck with a winning team, he was petulant with his players instead of giving them support and confidence. To name, the Isaac Davies incident, Rubin Colwill he had a talent there and he didn’t give him enough game time to improve his confidence, and not backing Ramon with the foul abuse he received at Millwall was really bad, Morrison’s attitude reflected in all of his characteristics a team that was not confident, it was inconsistent, and indecisive. I would not put all the blame on Morrison.
Vincent Tan has his toxic stain all over it.

Agree, the whispers coming out are that he does lose the changing room. I'm glad in this instance the club acted quickly and got rid,I hope the next choice is a good one that can get a tune out of these players .

Re: Steve Morison:” I can definitely say I left the club in

Was he given enough time? we will never know, I think his downfall was not getting the one or two strikers in early enough and in my humble opinion Robinso was a panic buy as Watters could not hit a barn door with a shovel. In the same breath VT should have put his hand in his pocket for a very good striker and I believe we would be in the top 6 now. Hudson is not the answer nor is Bellamy, Nathan Jones or Ince. I have no idea who but come October when we play the Jacks we will expect a response! :bluebird:

Morison is spot on.

Those players out of contract may have been kept by other managers.

He will go and do very well somewhere else while we look on.

We were plummeting down the table, losing virtually every game - would have been in bottom 3 if other teams hadn't had points deductions. In a matter of weeks he brought in loanees, changed the side, and City were safe by a mile. He could have kept a consistent side but used the games to try out younger players, systems etc., at the expense of results. We then saw 10 players most with experience, leave, and 17 new players come in. And then, when the team is still settling [after key injuries at the start of season], he's sacked after just 10 games.

Personally as someone who has followed City since 1962, I thought he was taking us in the right direction for the 1st time in decades. Sadly, many had a personal grudge against him - he wasn't 'nice' enough, he didn't play Colwill, etc. etc. This is probably the 5th or 6th toughest league in the world and I thought our league position/points total was probably what was to be expected at such and early stage of the season.

We've missed the boat big time in my opinion..

Spot on Chris,

Football does not survive on ifs , buts, maybes , should have etc etc

Plus it’s just the results it was the upset behind the scene.

Re: Steve Morison:” I can definitely say I left the club in

Mon Sep 26, 2022 10:55 am

Morison’s clearly neglecting to tell the full story. The fact that the club made the statement they did, no thanks, no mutual decision etc, just speaks volumes.
We have a history of generally releasing pleasant and polite statements when it comes to booting managers. This one was blunt and brutal.

I agree whole heartedly.

Our group of Season Ticket holders certainly felt this was a long term project. Yes, SM made mistakes but he's still learning the ropes in management and should have been afforded the opportunity to grow as a manager and as a person.

A kneejerk reaction and a missed opportunity.

Re: Steve Morison:” I can definitely say I left the club in

Bloody daft decision.. he was always going to make mistakes as a rookie, but pretty sure he would have been ok.

Re: Steve Morison:” I can definitely say I left the club in

Mon Sep 26, 2022 6:01 pm

It’s a fact this board voted it a bad decision and so did social media.

Re: Steve Morison:” I can definitely say I left the club in

Mon Sep 26, 2022 7:09 pm

He did his job, he kept us in the division and let the overpaid players of yester-manager go. A younger better looking version of Russel Slade you may say.

Should never have been given the job in the first place as he had proven absolutely nothing other than sounding good in the practice games arena of U23 football. At least Hudson has sat near the manager's office and is an ex promotion-winning captain of CCFC, but he should not be given the opportunity either, we are not an ex-footballer charity.

Steve needs to get the feelers out as there are always opportunities so needs to promote himself. No malice to the bloke he tried his best but we were in a right old dog fight with him at the helm IMO.

Rob Edwards looks interesting

I tend to agree.
If the decision was based on purely football and there was no bust up behind the scenes, then I totally disagree with the decision to sack him. The way he has revamped the squad in one window and changed the style of football probably worked against him. It might have been better for him if it was done in stages but you have to give the man credit for that. It should have been viewed as a long term project and Morison should have been cut some slack.
Obviously he was going to make mistakes and the results were going to be inconsistent while the new players bedded into a system.
Our club will not progress any time soon with the short term thinking that the board and majority of fans seem to favour. :(

Re: Steve Morison:” I can definitely say I left the club in

Was doing a decent job in my opinion and would have got us in the right direction, this season was all about stability and changing our style of play which doesn’t happen over night.
I’ve enjoyed going in to to every home game this season because of new players and new style of play, something I can’t say over the last 2 years.
Someone will give him a go (Probably Millwal) and he will succeed.

Bullying my arse, grow up its a man’s game and you take a fantastic wage :banghead:
