" Rubin Colwill "

Not been one of his biggest supporters, think some people make out he's better than he actually is. Still has a lot he needs to improve on.

But credit where due, thought he was brilliant tonight when he came on for Wales.

There should be no exuses not to play him my mate
big spurs fan
just asked who he was and though he was the next ramsey well impressed with him as i was
if we don' t play him he will be gone and yet again we will let a very skilled player develope and become a star elsewhere
he looked really good touches running we need to give him a run in the side he looked a different player with wales
so we are not doing something right with him.

You know as well as I do that he doesn't play like that for us, that's the issue.

I'd say he was brilliant.

Put pressure on Poland when they had the ball, showed good attacking skills, made some strong challenges and won set pieces.

I disliked Morison as one of the reasons was his belittling and bullying of players like Rubin, the lad has an abundance of talent

Re: " Rubin Colwill "

I am big supporter of Colwill just hope we see a lot more of him for City before a big team comes in for him as he does well in the world cup teams will be sniffing around, never understand Morrison not picking him and saying he still has a lot to learn when we couldnt score a bloody goal and Colwill was the only one who seemed to know where the net was.

Yes he is young but that is the best thing about him he will only get better so lets hope Cardiff can benefit from it before its to late

I think Morison wanted our DNA to be based upon the German gegenpress system and Rubin isn't going to be a good presser.

Be interesting to see what Hudson does.

Dave Jones would have found his key, just tell him to hang around up field and cause damage.

Re: " Rubin Colwill "

He's far too talented to not play and we need to stop messing about with him. He isn't going to run around covering every blade of grass, he's not that type of player and never will be. He's a special talent and we've got to play him to his strengths to utilise him to his best.

As tonight showed, I think Colwill should be in a free role just behind the striker, similar to how Adel Taarabt was played for QPR. Play two holding midfielders behind him and leave Colwill to roam around the pitch to cause damage like he did tonight.

He doesn't need to run around a great deal out of possession anyway as his footballing brain is superior to most players. He knows what positions to pick up and he's very cute with getting his body between opponents to win fouls.

Yes, when he starts, he tires later on in the game, but we've got to keep starting him. He will only be able to adapt to playing full 90 plus minute games if we keep starting him. He's our only player who can do something different to create something out of nothing to win games. We've got to keep playing him now.

As a substitute, I’ve seen him play like that for us a good few times.

‘Still a lot he needs to improve on’? …. Well yeah no shit!!

He’s not long out of his teens, he’s 6’2” and is a bit gangly at that age.

Bags of skill, he just needs time to add consistency to his game.

Fair enough if you don't agree, but little need for the sarcastic patronising.

I respectfully disagree. The % of his good performances for Wales off the bench are higher than his % of good performances for Cardiff City (mostly off the bench) in my view.

Maybe that's down to managers at club level not utilising his strengths properly, maybe it's down to the player's lack of motivation. Perhaps a bit of both.

There have been times when he's looked not bothered when playing for us. Obviously managers have to take a bit of the blame for that but a lot of it comes down to the player.

There are players his age in the championship who are far better. He may become a good player but there is nothing to suggest he will be anymore than that.

Let him play the next 3 games 90 mins and perhaps we can put the doubt to bed ine way or the other but he has had bit parts for the last 2 seasons.

He's a good young player by our standards.
How many of these young players have we sold for big money compared to the Jack's.

Well said and what i was alluding to letting players go then they blossom elsewhere
and we let them go for nothing you cannot gain experiance in the reserves playing against kids
and you need to gel in the team but difficult if you have 15 mins hear and there or the odd 45 mins
has ruben been given back to back games
how many did morrison give watters 7 or 8 on the trot

For a lad his age he should be running around like a madman not floundering when he gets tired

Re: " Rubin Colwill "

Looked good and dangerous when he came on. I see him like Tomlin but fitter, won’t run about like a mad man always, but can count on him to create and make things happen in the final third which is key for any team, if you don’t have anyone like that in your side you won’t get anywhere.

Agree. Worth a starting place Saturday in the number 10 role perhaps.

I’m just saying give the kid a chance.

It’s obvious to all that he’s got loads of talent. He’s was being brought through slowly - a bit too slowly in my opinion - but kids this age mature in life and football at different times. For people to say they don’t rate him is pathetic (not you).

Hopefully he’ll get a lot more game time under Hudson to build up his confidence and fitness but I think it’ll be quite some time before we can judge him and “support” him.

Loads of talent? That’s what we have been told but I haven’t seen it on display as yet. Glimpses only

Great goal in open play against Forest and Liverpool. Blinding free kick at QPR.

Always takes the ball on the half turn and tries to make things happen. Even last night he was effecting the game when he came on.

You’re right they are glimpses but Morison did fail to find a place for him and certainly did not give him enough minutes to allow him to grow both physically and mentally.

He needs to get fitter and sharper but more game time will help with that. He’s just played himself into the World Cup squad, he’s good enough to get into our team regularly.
