Are you serious? Is this the man who was manager of Barry who were relegated?

This is the same guy who built Barry Town up from parks football with local kids to a Welsh prem side.

For our youth development, I see it as a good move.

Managing a professional u23 side is more demanding than managing a Barry Town

Gavin is a highly qualified coach and also holds a position as a coach educator.

He has experience of working with younger players.

As Wez said his role will be about overseeing player development and he has the qualities and experience to do this.

Wish people would do some research before commenting I.e Barry Town were relegated so therefore he's not good enough for Cardiff City Academy role.

A refreshing and good post that puts to shame the knee jerk uninformed crap that people put out on here.

He will do great for us.

I think he could be good. Did well for Barry Town and built the club back up after Stuart Lovering ruined it. Plenty of experience in the Welsh PL, I've no idea why Barry got relegated though but they did well for a while. They started an academy years back as you need it to be a PL club, it wasn't great tbh, don't know if it's improved, seemed more of a tick box exercise. My son's coach at Newport sang his praises though, as he was also a student of his. He must be better than the present incumbent so sounds like a good move.

I briefly got to know Gavin a long time ago when he coached the Glamorgan University 1st team.

He's a great guy and a great coach who knows how to man manage the players. I 100% back him to do a great job for us.

Yes it’s true.

He’s very cheap, I would like to say he might be ok, but it’s all about cost cuts the last 4-5 yrs, not about the real quality.

Desperately needed someone to take on this job full time since David Hughes went to Man Utd.

Good luck to Chesterfield, hopefully proves he's the right man for the job and improves our academy.

Annis, why is everything about cheap to you? Surely money doesn't come into the right person for the right job.
Also you have stated in the past about how the club waste money so it cannot be both ways.
From what I hear he will be an excellent addition.
