Director of Football

Whatever your opinion on SM's sacking and the quality of the people running the club I wonder if we can all at least agree that we badly need a Director of Football who knows and understands football; to mediate between the football management and club management and to also lead our strategy in transfers, coaching and contracts to keep consistency in our project even when managers change.

Stephen McPhail would be an ideal candidate as an ex City players and I've heard he has done a good job in a similar role in Ireland.

Another candidate for DoF could be Dave Jones, he had an eye for a player and had a great style of football and also got on well with Vincent Tan.

Been saying exactly the same for ages mate and if we're going there how about DJ as DoF and SMcP as coach.

Agree, glaringly obvious we need one desperately.

But I can't see it ever happening under this ownership, the lot of them are too arrogant to think they need one and will see it as money being unnecessarily spent.

Does SMcPh have any coaching ambitions? If they do give it Hudson I imagine he would work well with both McPhail and DJ having played with/under both.

We need one, but like Manager aim as high as we can need one with experience and who has a proven record. It's difficult though, most lower league Managers hate having anyone interfering and there are often rows over playing style and players, although I guess the same would apply to the transfer committee.

We all know a DoF should have been a key board appointment on day one for VT. If we had, we would have been flying instead of constantly firefighting. How VT doesn't see this is beyond me. Without one we will continue to be rudderless on the pitch.

Only one man has managed to almost bankrupt the club this century and that is Sam Hammam so absolutely no thanks to him ever coming anywhere near this club again.

Yes he had ambition but honestly anyone of us could have done what he did with money that the club didn't have. For all Tan's faults, Hammam isn't even in the same league as Tan as a CCFC owner.
