‘ Nathan Jones ‘

MY VIEW: Nathan Jones would be perfect. but the current board I can not see investing in the Luton Towns manager.

‘ Nathan Jones ‘

By Tom Coleman

Pros

The Welshman's love for his boyhood club is pretty well-documented, and his great work with Luton Town means he would undoubtedly be a popular appointment.

Jones favours a brand of football we saw glimpses of on several occasions under Morison. Under his watch, the Hatters don't tend to necessarily dominate possession, but do press teams in an effort to hit them on the counter, and do like to approach games on the front foot.

Jones is also meticulous in his preparations, as revealed when discussing the build-up to the recent clash with Blackburn Rovers. He said: “On Wednesday night we went from here and five of us went to the training ground and we worked. We were watching Blackburn at past 1am in the morning, to make sure that Thursday we could give them a good session and Friday we were tactically right at it to win a game. That’s the sacrifice that people don’t see."

Against:

The current board won’t pay the money needed to bring Jones to Cardiff City.

Jones might well be interested in the opportunity to move to the Welsh capital, but it's probably safe to assume Luton wouldn't be too keen to see it happen. The big elephant in the room, of course, is the money needed to make it materialise.

Jones still has three years left on his current deal at Kenilworth Road, which points to a potentially substantial financial package, and one suspects Luton would likely look to play hardball when negotiating compensation.

History suggests this is a consideration which will likely dent Vincent Tan's enthusiasm.

Ten times cheaper than relegation, interview him (tap him up) and see if he will take it, if he will pay up and look big!

That's a good point actually

He would know its a high pressure job with a lot of fans expecting a lot more than we are currently managing. Most people see plucky little Luton overachieving at the moment so there's a lot less pressure in that job.He must know he'd be out of a job after six months if we weren't top 6 by Jan.

I would like a manager with experience and can play good football.

We’ve pussy footed about with old stagers and inexperienced managers nows the time to go for a decent one who might just galvanise the whole club!

Money doesn’t buy passion but if he has that in abundance then I’m all for it.

Jones ticks almost all of the boxes and as he also loves the City and the club, it’s a no brainier to me.

Let’s throw off the shackles and get this club where it needs to be.

I haven’t got a big issue with Jones apart from his style of play.

He does have a passion for the club and also has experience at this level (not all of it successful !) and would pull the club together.

But his style of play with Luton this season, and last, was as direct as I’ve seen from any team in the Championship. Can he adapt that with the squad we now have ?

I have a feeling he’s not really an option unless he resigns at Luton so maybe we have to just see how Hudson does.

He has done a brilliant job at Luton in fact he had done such a good job there he was prised away from them by Stoke where he was a total disaster. This is the real elephant in the room.

If the better names are not available I would vastly prefer him to Hudson with his 100% failure rate in matches as a caretaker manager.

I think he's about the best we could get, no Bamba or Hudson, listen Daman and Tan go and get Nathan Jones :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Different type players at his disposal maybe? Nothing is garaunteed in football either with players or managers for that matter

I just can't envisage any circumstances where the club would pay compensation as well as a decent salary when there are so many out of work managers who wouldn't cost a penny in compensation.

They seem quite happy persuing their current policy of saving money by giving somebody already employed by the club a chance of being the manager.

Won't be long until one of the programme sellers gets an opportunity.

I can't imagine the club paying compensation either but, there must be clauses, so i live in hope.

I think he is a pragmatist and could get a tune out of this sqaud.

He may be under contract but it may be written that he can talk to ‘certain’ clubs if they gone knocking.

what is the love in with Nathan Jones?
yes he is a Cardiff fan, but as far as being a good manager I don’t see it
He has a club which fits him, small crowds, not huge expectations.. so it suits him
when at Stoke, where pressure was on he was awful, think he would be the same here.
