MY VIEW: I would rather Bamba than Hudson any day, but he does lack experience.

‘ Sol Bamba ‘

By Tom Coleman

Pros

A huge fan favourite and a Cardiff legend, the Ivorian remains a hugely popular figure in the Welsh capital and was briefly considered as an interim boss before the appointment of Neil Harris. There is some enthusiasm for his skills as a coach in certain corners of the club.

He would certainly be an appointment who fans would have no trouble getting behind and would surely demand respect from the dressing room, too. He is a man with undeniable leadership skills, and his stints as a pundit suggest there is a competent footballing brain there. Again, he wouldn't carry a compensation fee, which would surely be a big plus for the Cardiff hierarchy.

Having worked under Neil Warnock, Bamba will know all too well what it takes to succeed and, as some have pointed out, he is one of the few potential candidates with experience abroad, which in turn could well give him an edge in terms of contacts.

Against:

As with Hudson, the big drawback is the lack of real experience.

Bamba has done some work with the under-23s, but has never once taken a role at senior level. To thrust him into the limelight here would undoubtedly be a huge gamble.

There is also the question of philosophy. It's not quite clear just what a Bamba team would look like and what sort of football they would want to play. Ultimately, some will feel there are probably too many unknowns.

Huge No,has he any experience in management.

The lack of experience is clear, however, no one would argue against how every single player would run through brick walls for him and an increased work rate on the pitch.

The big advantage he would bring is fan solidarity. When we have had successful spells over the last 10 years (Malky and Warnock) - they united the fans which gave us an extra 20% imo

It's a romantic idea with his links to us but my head says it's too early

What's your problem with Hudson Annis ? You don't seem very keen.

Sol bamba has done nothing in any management capacity in the game, hes noy even a no2 or u21/23 manager to get this big job ,its laughable to suggest he should be our manager just coz he played for us .wake up people we need an experienced manager ,dyche,Houghton ,Jones, dave Jones ,Cardiff is a big club that needs a proper manager

At least Hudson, has experience around management, sol has none whatsoever.

Annis, Mark Hudson was also a fans favourite and legend imho.
Why give Bamba a crack at it and not The Rock ?

It’s one thing having a rookie manager but one who has tried to learn his trade in the youth setup at the same club to going to an even more-so rookie manager with no experience

No real experience Martin and what experience he has had never got a single point.

It’s like once again the same old pattern abd chesp inexperience managers that are getting us know where.

Compate bamba to natham jones both love cardiff and both would get on with the fans but jones took luton to play offs last season and has experience as much as i like bamba' s leadership we cannot risk it with another "rookie"

But he did have a good length of time as coach/number 2 in the Prem and did well and was well respected.

I certainly can’t see why Bamba would be a better option than Hudson other than he’s a nice guy.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think either are the best options but I certainly don’t see why Bamba would be better than Hudson.

Put Bamba in charge of the Academy, let’s see what he’s got.

100% no, if he hadn't played for us would his name even be mentioned?

He should look for a start somewhere low and build a career from there, nice bloke but doesn't come across as knowing anything about Management as a pundit.

Why offer him a job after he all has no experience and left under a bit of a cloud after his post Cardiff comments. [ And that is not saying it could have been handled better ] but we have a good squad but need a footballing manager to take them forward.
Roy Keane anyone?

Roy Keane wouldn't work with the snowflake players these days .imagine the phone calls between him and tan.

Why not Gary O'Neill ?
I think if Bournemouth bring in a "name", and he's deemed surplus to requirements, then he's someone who the Board should really be interested in.

Agree.

Last year Keane said he had a few interviews with Championship clubs. But a couple of months ago he said he thinks he can't see a way back into management for him now and he's happy enough doing his punditry.

Shame because he did a very good job at Sunderland and not too bad at Ipswich, but it was a long time ago.

Gary O’Neil would be a great shout but highly unlikely our board know who he is and besides he is not experienced (Igovernor)
