After the final whistle at Huddersfield I felt something was brewing. I went into the game not convinced about us. I was at Middlesborough where we won 3-2 but I felt we were lucky to hold on. Infact it would have not surprised me if we would have lost 4-3. The 1st half at Huddersfield proved my fears right. It got worse for me in that 2nd half.
Quite a bit of that game was played in front of us away fans and you could see the expressions on the faces of our players gave it all away. Colwill was perhaps the worse with his demeaner. He was having a good game but his expressions gave the impression of "why am I doing this". From that I felt something was seriously wrong.
It came as no surprise to me when the message got out he was sacked. Thing is he did not get the sack. I've heard many rumours about what happened and from them this is what I believe. Tan was hounding Morison with text messages during the game. I can well believe that from Tan. Morison ignored them. I can believe that even more so. At FT Morison finally answered Tan and the conversation got heated. Morison walked. That is what I believe.
So really no decision was made as the club had not to make one. Of course the club had to relieve Morison of his duties but they did not sack him, he walked.
So what next besides looking for a new manager. Do not be surprised if we have another Michael Isaac scenario. Don't be surprised if Morison takes Tan to court. Don't be surprised if Morison uses this to degrade Tan like Isaac did.

Your write up of the Huddersfield match was excellent and contained concerns that have now been mentioned in this latest (again excellent) thread
Your comments about Rubin Colwill made me revisit the highlights and I can see where you are coming from
It has long been said that the owner 'interferes' in first team matters but to what extent has been subject to conjecture
I was told there was a 'heated' argument but the 'ignored text' comments are new information and I have sympathy with Morison, as would anyone 'badgered' by their boss when concentrating on the job in hand. If (and I don't discount) that is true, then credit to Morison for having principles...
Sort of suggests Tan does care though; just as we care as supporters when our team are under performing
As I've said elsewhere, it will all come out in the wash and it will be another interesting period ahead...

I genuinely can't see Tan texting from Malaysia during a game
Think about it logically
At least Colwell will now start

Mike, he watches the games and wouldn't have been impressed any more than the supporters were...

If tan was texting it was for morison to see later! because if you look at him he never looked at fone was to busy having go at 4th official .... can understand tan having conversation at end game sometime but during game not really... as for colwill how many other players felt same way because certainly I wouldn't want play in a side that played way city did especially when you are an attacking player like colwill o'Dowd or Robinson..... what is coming out is a lot of unrest with owner and players and fans come to that matter on way morison sets out team and his match comments before and after games.... get impression was only matter of time before something happened.

This may sound daft but why would hand his phone on during a game snd why would he answer a phone during a game?!

Enjoyed the match report but I don't think SM walked as the club statement says he was 'relieved of his duties', so fired by the club. My personal opinion is that VT had seen us in this position under MM and he was sacked at almost the same time (October), we are there again with SM so he decided to act. As Chris says, it will come out eventually.

Not saying it’s not true but if it was by text message do you think a manager is even on his phone during the game. I’d assume phones are put away and not looked at til after the game
Mon Sep 19, 2022 12:22 pm
If Tan/boardroom made better managerial appointments then he wouldn’t have to message him during the game like that. SM should never have got the job same as Harris and McCarthy, just completely unsuitable and above their station. We are on a real bad roll of managerial recruitment , and then they get hounded with messages from people who have no experience or knowledge of the game. I beginning to feel sorry for all these managers. Russel Slade we all knew was not up to the job, he knew surely! But he’s hardly going to say no is he? And there lies our current formula for our revolving door.

A couple of good points:
1. Why would Morison have his mobile with him during the game. He most likely did not but it would have not surprised me if Tan tried to get hold of him then.
2. Tan cares and watches all the games. Only comment I'll make here is it would be to his advantage he attempted some games.

No guarantee any manager will play Colwill more unless a yes man as he isn’t that good
Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:11 pm
I was not a morrison fan but Tan cannot contact the manager during the game that is well out of order.
Tan is the owner and has shown he knows bugger all about football and should not get involved during the game any manager should not take calls when he is doing his job.
Remember this the man who wanted David Marshal dropped as he had played every game all season and had not scored a single goal that is not a rumour he did this also I have seen an interview with Ben Turner who admitted that Ollie told him as a manager sorry the team has been changed and it is nothing to do with me but you are on the bench when Turner said why Boss I been playing well Ollie's reply was sorry its out of my hands they want to see a change.
What is clear Tan Dalman has to much interference in the managers job and makes me wonder but all the managers we have had.
No decent manager like Sean Dyche will come to Cardiff with the bunch we have running it
Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:24 pm
I have no doubt VT expected better but the reality is it appears to be a knee jerk reaction with no one lined up, perhaps we will see MD at a few games now.
Perhaps all is not well between him and VT?

Did he contact manager? are you basing comments on what's been said on here? Its known he contacts manager after game and why shouldn't he he owns the club so has right to congratulate or moan about performances ... what's happened goes behond just a fone call that's for sure
Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:29 pm
My gawd, this is speculating on the speculation
We don't know. Those who pride themselves on their inside knowledge had no wind of his sacking, dressing rooms are quite tight for a while anyway, then stories get dropped to a few reporters.

I would say this Tan texting Morison during the match is BS designed to enrage the gullible.

I have my doubts tbh. Morison shouldn’t have had his phone on him on match day, not during the game. There’s no way he’d che checking texts at any time during game or half time. If he did, then one would have to say he doesn’t deserve a managers’ job.

Another point is how could Tan's alleged texts effect Colwils game

Can't see this myself as we know Mr Tan and managers speak AFTER games.

Come on no one is saying that.
Over all what I can say with confidence is Colwill is not happy at all.
Mon Sep 19, 2022 6:32 pm
Sorry but misread your post.
Genuine question though, what in your opinion is the reason for Colwills body language when he came on after half time.

Probably because he was told to play inside own half?
Seriously he is an attacking player but you suspect he was told not to venture forward .... as we know we hardly went into their penalty area all game I'd be a bit disheartened if that was case
Mon Sep 19, 2022 7:04 pm
He should just be happy to be on the pitch. He has shown a few glimpses of potential but appears the media attention over his Wales euro call up went to his head.
All I see in his performances are feeling sorry for himself and off balance, heavy touches .
Compare that to the younger players at Bristol city who ripped us a new one the other week and you realise how far behind other players at his age he is.
I’m sorry but these are not views just shared by me. A lot of fans question the ability of Colwill and wonder if he is just the poster boy of a very average crop of youngsters

Pure conjecture but I could imagine Morison absolutely losing it if Tan had been trying to contact him throughout the game, especially given we lost. I wonder if the “heated discussion” at half-time would have been with someone trying to inform Morison that Tan was trying to get ahold of him rather than SM having access to his phone throughout the game?

You have a point but why would tan try to contact him during game? Or is the suggestion that tan wanted morison to change tactics and tried to ring him to tell him....

We all know tan rings up after game so the more logic explanation is tan rang him after game telling him he was unhappy at way team was playing (along with fans) morison didn't like what tan said big argument and there is only one winner isnt there...... so morison walked before being pushed maybe??
Unfortunately everything is pure conjecture.
Mon Sep 19, 2022 7:37 pm
If the team are continually losing - Morison's win rate on a par with Trollope so I read - then if I was the owner - I would be asking Morison exactly why this is ?
As a manager (clues is in the title) part of your job is to manager people - be that players, fans, or owners. If morison had a hissy fit because his boss asked him a question - then clearly he isnt the right man for the job.
Maybe Tan should have a go himself - pick the team himself and let a coach just coach them
Who next - dont fancy any of them, someone will suggest Ryan Giggs soon....

All I can say. Is I’ve taken my phone to many a game. And my excuse to my missus for not answering is the signal is crap. Which it is. So let’s not ruin my excuse

I’ve used that one too, many a time.

Agree with you and I'm not sure what is his position too
