Callum Robinson admits he's not fully up to speed just yet, but that didn't stop him registering two assists against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Robinson signed on deadline day, City's 17th summer addition, and was brought in to score goals and get assists. Well, he certainly started with a bang, helping to put two goals in the back of the net during the Bluebirds' rip-roaring start up north.

"I'm playing a little bit of catch up," he said. "I missed three weeks due to injury in pre-season. I was in and out at West Brom before I came here. It was nice to get minutes and help the team win.

"I said I came here to get goals and assists. I didn't get my goal tonight, but I chipped in with a few assists which was nice.

"In training we have been doing a little bit of work. I am still getting used to the boys and I've not played a lot before tonight. Obviously I've played with Cal (O'Dowda) a few times and I know he likes that run in behind, so as soon as I picked my head up, he made my mind up with a lovely run and finished it off nicely."

On the win itself, he added: "It's obviously been tough, I've only been here a few weeks but a few results haven't gone our way and we've been playing well. It's nice for the boys and hopefully we can carry on that winning feeling.

"You know what the Championship is like. It's one win but a good win against a good team with some quality players, good Championship-level players. It was a tough night, we made it hard for ourselves but we will look at that. Hopefully we can get a run together."

There were a number of clubs chasing his signature at the end of the window, but Robinson said he was impressed by the feedback he received from Cardiff when they wanted to sign him.

"It's a massive football club," he said of the reason behind his decision. "It was deadline day and they were really keen to sign me. I want to be playing football and I want to play every week and the club really gave me that positive feedback and got it over the line, I'm really grateful for that."
